Synopsis
Area 51 is set in the U.S. government's most top-secret and secure facility located in the Nevada desert. Players take on the role of Specialist Ethan Cole, a hazardous biological waste specialist sent to investigate. During his investigation, Cole stumbles across alien creatures and a virus that threatens his very humanity. To save the earth and himself, Cole must fight to solve the enigma of Area 51. Engage in an epic adventure through eight massive sections and battle your way through corridors of Area 51 to discover the secrets of an extraterrestrial menace before it is too late.

Plot
Area-51 starts the player out taking over Ethan Cole who is part of HAZMAT Team Bravo that is sent in to Area 51 to aid in the search of finding HAZMAT Team Delta that was attacked by a unknown creature known as "Theta". Cole and his teammates will then continue into the depths of Area 51 to find out that the scientists and soldiers below Area 51 had been infected by some type of mutation thats morphs them into alien-mutated creatures that start attacking them, which prevents them from finding HAZMAT Team Delta. Cole will then experience being infected after seeing his comrades get killed and infected. Rather than lose his humanity, Cole somehow controls the mutation and is capable of moving on and finding the anecdote to cure him of the mutation. Right before Cole is about to get cured, he is attacked by the illuminati. After escaping and fighting his way through, Cole is then taken to a unknown area where he meets up to this ancient alien known as Edgar which is a deformed grey that can communicate with Cole and aids him in preventing the spread of the mutation throughout the globe and find the cure for the mutation to cure Cole.

Gameplay
The storyline in Area 51 is really strong and greatly narrated. In Area 51, the player will have to experience working alone, getting pass obstacles, and even provide protection for their teammates. Being able to scan certain items which gives the player details on what the item they scanned is and other information about its origins. The player will have to battle mass hordes of mutated soldiers and scientist to be able to progress through missions as well as watch their allies get killed or mutated from the virus. The gameplay will keep the player alert and vigilant when they get to the point where they are fighting alone and have no teammates to aid them. Later on throughout the game, the player will face up against spec-op soldiers that spawn from these little blue-flying orbs that appear from out of no where. The player will experience playing as an infected and view their surroundings from the mutant's perspective. The player will also face the greys that will attack the player by deploying spec-op soldiers around the area and are protected by a forcefield which can be destroyed and possibly kill the grey before it teleports to a safe location. The player will be able to use an arsenal of weaponry ranging from pistols, SMG's, shotguns, sniper rifles, grenades and even alien weaponry. The player will also be able to wield 2 of the same weapons simultaneously.

Multiplayer
The multiplayer in Area 51 really gets multiple players that adrenaline feeling when fending for themselves. The multiplayer features 3 types of game modes; deathmatch, capture the flag, and mutation which players play as the mutants and must infect players that are on the human team before the time is up. The player can customize the way their character looks and add other variations to them. The maps in multiplayer aren't that big so playing in a death match with 10+ people is hectic but fun and enjoyable.

Graphics
The graphics for this game were its best at it time back then. the player could see the blood that came out upon impact on a target. Also, on the cutscenes where the player sees the mutation happen, it really looks realistic and utterly sick to players that aren't too strong of the game's realistic gore. The player can also see the blood that squirts out upon death which I found to be very cool back then. The faces of the aliens and mutants are in great detail. The way they are designed really makes the player feel uneasy because of the mutant's piercing green eyes that illuminate in the darkness and disgusting features on their body and face upon close ups. If you were to compare the grey in comparison with the ones that people have seen when they were abducted, you can see the realism and similarities between them. The designs of the alien weaponry are really intriguing and appealing to look at. On one of the alien weapons, the player will see that it sucks up these particles that the gun uses to regenerate its ammo which is really unique and cool for the player to experience.

Controls
The controls for this game were your average first-person shooter controls and haven't changed except for a few minor changes which shouldn't prove any differences. The controls could prove some difficulties at some points of the game if the player is being overrun by multiple enemies so the player just needs to be quick on deciding what to do upon their first moments of contact. Area 51 does offer a leaning feature which was a unique feature to have which could be down when the player was leaning up against a wall by pressing either direction on the directional pad. Luckily for players that are new to first-person shooters like Area 51, the game offers a shooting practice session at the beginning which could provide sufficient help for new players.

Ratings
Gameplay: 10/10
Graphics: 9.8/10
Controls: 9.5/10
Multiplayer: 9/10
Overall: 10/10

Masons and Illuminati connection - Soon after meeting Dr. Cray, you will reach an infirmary where you will find clones of Mr. White walking around, mumbling, and rambling on. On the back of their lab coats you will find a Masonic lodge (a symbol of the Free Masons) suggesting a connection between the Masons and Illuminati.

A 100% classic! A perfect choice if you're looking for a great FPS, the story and suspense will keep you on the edge of your seat and while the gameplay is the same as other FPS, the multi-player will keep you from ever growing bored online. One of the game modes online titled "Infection" is the funnest mode I ever played online in a action game.
