Synopsis
Pokmon X and Y ( XY Poketto Monsut Ekkusu & Wai?) are role-playing video games developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo 3DS. They were first announced on January 8 by Satoru Iwata through a special Nintendo Direct.[2] They are the first installments in the sixth generation of the main series of Pokmon games. The two games were released worldwide on October 12, 2013,[1] making them the first Nintendo-published retail games to have such a global simultaneous release in all key regions.Similar to previous installments, the two games follow the journey of a young Pokemon trainer (and their friends) as they travel through through the Kalos region, based on France, as they train Pokemon and thwart the schemes of the nefarious criminal organization Team Flare. X and Y introduced 69 new Pokemon and 28 new "Mega Evolutions", which some new features including a new fairy type, character customization, new battle and trainings mechanics, as well as completely rendered polygonal 3D graphics rather than sprites. Both titles are independent of each other, but feature largely the same plot, and while both can be played separately, trading Pokmon between both of the games is necessary in order to complete the games' Pokdex.Upon release, X and Y received very positive reviews from critics who praised the advancements in the gameplay and the large innovation that they brought to the franchise. The games were highly anticipated and were a commercial success; selling four million copies worldwide in the first weekend,[3] beating Black and White's record and making the fastest selling game on the 3DS.[4]

Gameplay
Pokemon X and Y are a role playing kind of game, that is showed in third person. The player plays as a young trainer who wants to catch Pokemon, train Pokemon, and beat other trainers. If you defeat trainers, Pokemon and more you will earn experience points. These points can be used to level up Pokemon, make their Pokemon learn new moves, and even make their Pokemon Evolve. Players can catch Pokemon in the wild in grassy areas and train them to be their best Pokemon. Also if your friend has one of these two games you guys can hook up and battle each other to see who is better than who, if you have a friend that has Y and you have X you can trade certain Pokemon from each of them so you can obtain all Pokemon in these games.

Plot
This game follows the plot of most of the Pokemon games. First the player chooses one of the Pokemon Chespin, Froakie, or Fennekin as their starter Pokemon that they received from a friend, later you receive a Bulbasaur, Charmander, or Squirtle from a scientist. The players goal is to get the achievable 8 gym badges, and challenge the elite four of the Pokemon League. Obstructing your ways to the villainous Team Flare, who is clearly in it for the money, but you then realize that their desire for beauty extends worldwide and is wanting to completely wipe the whole world out. Once you completely beat the game and become a champion you can do side quests, and participate in more battles. Overall really fun.

Graphics
The graphic in Pokemon X and Y are fantastic! This is the first game in the series that has 3D polygonal graphics, which allows more interactivity with the over-world and more dynamic action in battles. The player can customize his trainers gender, his/hers appearance, skin tone, hair color at the beginning of the game. Later the player can equip outfits. All Pokemon are very detailed everywhere, theirs smooth curves and sharp lines. Movie in a dark area when its sunny out can result to shade in some areas of your body. You breath and it shows that which is amazing and very detailed. When you battle other Pokemon all the attacks in progress are cool and amusing to see. When you throw a poke ball at something its has a great animation of the poke ball opening and closing with sun rays coming out of it. Very Great detailed graphics.

Controls
The controls of this game are very similar to previous Pokemon games. The controls on the 3DS is very limited on buttons to press. It is super simple to battle, roam around, and just do other things. Young children can learn to use these controls and would be perfect for a gift.

Great game, game freak took the experience to the next level while sticking to the games roots. A visually stunning game which is also just as adictive as its predecessors. The mega evolutions and fairy types are also a good addition to the game to make it much more strategic. 10/10
