Hey guys, I know it will sound stupid and a rookie mistake, but I have learnt my lesson now, so please, no hate.
I downloaded a program yesterday and when I opened it, nothing happened. As a result of this I just deleted the program and thought okay I won't bother with this anymore because it was too good to be true, lesson learnt.
However, approximately 30 minutes later I heard the error message sound and the little box popped up saying, "Hello Be prepared because I'm about to make your life a living hell"
I was like hm okay what the hell!? Then the DVD Drive opened... I immediately disconnected the laptop from the Wi-Fi connection and then turned off the router. Once I turned them both back on I did a full scan of my computer, and quarantined the items that were suspicious. After this I restored the computer (to a point before I had downloaded the program). I also upgraded from Windows 8 to 8.1.
Will this have been enough to remove any suspicious activity or extra threats? Or is it advised that I complete a full system restore?
Any advice or feedback is much appreciated and I have learnt my lesson; If it's too good to be true, it probably is!

If it seems okay to use now, it should be fine. But I would run Malware Bytes a couple times a day just to make 100% sure that nothing is still in there. But you can do a full system restore to be 100% sure.
