So recently i have enrolled on a computing course at college (in U.K but i don't know if college has the same meaning everywhere else.) and bear in mind that you choose to be in that course.

There are roughly 16-19 people in my class, one of the being myself, i believe that if you chose to do it, you may as-well try because its eating into your time which if i wasn't motivated enough i may as-well quit the course, the remaining 10 people (6 or so are my friends who try on the course) stroll into class late everyday, every week! when they get into class they log on and go on youtube, facebook or play games and start the work but do not finish it, leaving them to do it at home which doesn't happen, my point that I'm trying to get across is, why come to college if you cant be arsed to do ANY of the work?

Whats your opinions on this?

I have a totally different experience with college than you, I don't know if its the college you are going to or what.

I am going for my masters in film right now, as its what I am dreaming of doing in the future as a profession, and everyone in my courses seem to be really motivated, and passionate about it.

I think you are talking about university? (where you have pay x amount per year to be on the course?) but if that is the case then i can completely understand and agree why you would because like i said, if you are there you may as well try!

In college, most of the people are there (UK) because if they don't go on to further education, their parents will nag them to get a job

I get this in sixth form with English Lit. and Geography.. People take it, getting Us, showing no sign of care... Luckily my Maths and RE classes are full of committed people

But i dont see the point... even if you hate being there you may aswell get a qualification for doing some work right?

my friends did sixth form and they did maths and business, everyone tried in the course they were in.

I don't know if it's quite the same where you're from (I'm from South Wales) but here, Sixth form is seen as more academically disciplined. College is supposed to be more lenient and attracts a lot of slackers... Some are determined but the minority (here anyway)..

I think a lot of people don't try because they are deluded. They think that someone will magic them up a job.. They'll learn the hard way, don't worry
