Diablo II
Release Date: June 29 2000
Developers: Blizzard North
Publishers: Blizzard Entertainment , Sierra Entertainment
Platforms: Windows, Mac OS, Mac OS X
Genre:Action-role playing, Fantasy

Synopsis
Diablo II is an action role-playing hack and slash video game developed by Blizzard North and published by Blizzard Entertainment in 2000 for Windows and Mac OS computers. The game, with its dark fantasy and horror themes, was conceptualized and designed by David Brevik and Erich Schaefer, who with Max Schaefer acted as project leads on the game. The producers were Matthew Householder and Bill Roper.Building on the success of its predecessor Diablo (1996), Diablo II was one of the most popular games of 2000. Major factors that contributed to Diablo II's success include its continuation of popular fantasy themes from the previous game and its access to Blizzard's free online play service Battle.net. An expansion to Diablo II, Diablo II: Lord of Destruction, was released in 2001. A sequel, Diablo III, was announced in 2008, and was released on May 15, 2012.

Plot
Diablo takes place after the previous game Diablo in a sanctuary. In the first one if you don't remember Diablo a warrior defeated his mortal self. Since that game demons has entered his spirit and are haunting him and making him weak. Through the campaign you discover or hear story's what caused the undead, demons, and all other enemy's to come into your world. Once you get deeper into the Campaign the truth is finally revealed. The soulstone were made to capture the Prime Evils who were banished and overthrown by Lesser Evils. With Diablos soulstone being corrupted a demon is able to control his world. As you keep going on the story there are cutscenes of the demon following someone called Marius. You the player realizes you aren't the only one having this stuff happen to you. There are 4 Acts in the campaign that the player has to play through. Then Diablo realizes he is To weak to enter hell to destroy this demon. Then the Dark Wanderer kills Marius and sets it on fire. The campaign continues on Diablo II Lord Of Destruction.

Gameplay
The single player in this game is really fun. It is really different from the first one and just from being different makes it fun. You get to explore all of the new features added in this one. In the first Diablo the levels had deeper descending into hell and and gothic themed, in Diablo II's story there environment is really varied. All acts has a different environment like deserts forest and deep into hell. There are 3 difficulties Normal, Nightmare, and of course Hell. As you know higher difficulties mean harder monsters and lower difficulties mean easier Difficulties.
That's right they brought back the Multiplayer. There are only two ways to join now instead of three, its LAN connection and still Battle.net. Unlike Diablo, Diablo II multiplayer has the original gaming mind built into it. Players can now have servers to play on,they don't cost any money but they must be played on about every 90 days so it doesn't expire. Players can still work together or fight each other during multiplayer.

Controls
Like in my other review in Diablo the controls are all over the place and could use some improvements. Well in Diablo II there are some controls that are just everywhere, but they have made some close together. Some of the controls have 2 buttons like B or I to open up the Backpack Inventory. I think that they should take out the B and make it so there is only one button to open up something. Also 1,2,3,and 4 uses a belt shot, but 1,2,3,4 all have commands at the same time like follow me. It's just really confusing and needs to be on different buttons and all. Needs improvements.

Graphics
The graphics in this game are not its strongest point in this game, especially when this game came out. There are still some really good Spells and effects and the environments are very detailed. They have improved since the last one came out. Everything is nice and laid out pretty good. They should really work on far away or distant objects. Just few improvements.

Rating

Diablo 2 is the definitive loot-action-rpg. It has the perfect balance of drops, sizeable maps, and rich atmosphere. In the end - however, the thing that separates diablo 2 from countless other similar games is that diablo 2 takes itself seriously. It tells a story, it has a darkness and a sense of place. A dungeon feels like a road to some destination rather than just a 'level'. Which is surprising considering most of the levels are randomly generated.
