Name: Homefront
Genre: First-person shooter
Release Date: March 15, 2011
Developers: Kaos Studios
Publishers: THQ
Age rating: 15
Modes: Single-player, Multi-player
Console(s): PC, Xbox 360, PS3

Plot
The game is based in the future, in a situation where North Korea has invaded the United States of America and are taking over towns and cities across the country. The game begins with the playable character, Jacobs, being transported on a bus to be re-educated by the Koreans when the American resistance blows up the bus and rescues Jacobs. The resistance go through missions which usually go wrong in order to gain resources which will help them win the war. Eventually the team manages to track and capture a large amount of fuel which they manage to get to the remaining military forces in the west of the country, but unfortunately, the resistance in Jacobs hometown is destroyed while he is out on his mission and all of the members were slaughtered by Korean forces. The military decides to attempt to take back the city San Francisco which they manage to successfully do with the help of some rebel forces and a very valiant sacrifice made by one of Jacobs close friends. The game ends with the military taking San Francisco and continuing on throughout the rest of the country.

Gameplay
Homefront has very similar gameplay to most other first-person shooters where the player must kill enemies and force the opponents back to claim ground and progress through the mission to complete set tasks in order to finish the mission and continue onto the next. There are collectables throughout the game which the player can find in different missions to earn achievements and trophies. The game offers a very large variety of weapons although most guns, unfortunately, seem very similar to one another. The enemies are all very similar and standard with nothing new and innovative. Another point worth mentioning is that your teams AI is absolutely terrible as nobody dies and they randomly shoot around at the enemies whilst taking cover in the best spots or just stand around looking at the battle and doing nothing. On the plus side, the multi-player is much better than the single-player which takes a mere six or seven hours to complete. The multi-player offers three different game modes, one which is very innovative and unique where the player receives tasks from an AI commander to complete. As the player plays more multi-player he unlocks new weapons and earns battle points which can be used to gain access to new weapons.

Graphics
The graphics are actually fairly impressive at times throughout the game which some great action-packed scenes. The game is actually quite bright and colourful despite it being a depressing war game with death all around. The guns and explosions sound very nice but the script of the characters is absolutely dreadful and can be found the be very annoying. However the weapons look good and realistic along with the environment and soldiers. Although this game has some major let downs in some areas, the graphics definitely aren't among the let downs.

Controls
As expected, Homefront has controls alike most of first-person shooters out there. The controls offer nothing special and new which may be a let down to some gamers, but on the other hand, some gamers may prefer the original basic controls as they are easier to use and do not take any getting useful if the player has a small amount of experience with the average first-person shooter. Overall the graphics are very easy and simple to pick up and offer no challenges.

I would have to give the game a 6.5/10 myself.

Despite the Concept of the game being interesting the Enemy AI was terrible, Missions where boring to say the least and there are A lot of un-patched glitches. For example, i found myself rapid firing out of my sniper various times when i played.

The game simply felt rushed..

9/10 For me. The fact that a writer from Red Dawn helped make this, It's amazing. The campaign was perfect, multiplayer is very fun as well. The environment was wonderful, Korean prison camps, demolished towns, and when that bit where you were in the pit of dead bodies, i felt like i was there and felt my anger towards the enemy.

9/10..The campaign seemed short, but I enjoyed it. The multiplayer was easy and fun to level up in, although I don't believe they ever patched the glitch to make you the highest rank within a few games. It sucks the company went bankrupt. Can't wait Homefront 2.
