Synopsis (Activision.com):

Play alone or a full band through the most fun tracks from previous Guitar Hero games. For the first time, players can rock to their favorite Guitar Hero music with the drum kit and mic controllers. Guitar Hero Smash Hits features the most memorable songs from Guitar Hero games together in one epic setlist, comprised of all master recordings. Rock your fav tunes through fantastic locations, Smash Hits offers eight new venues based on wonders of the world, including the Amazon, Polar Ice Caps and the Grand Canyon.

Story:

In Career Mode, The God of Rock has talked to you and your band about this ancient artifact that is hidden throughout the World. He sends you and your band to all the different Wonders of the World, such as the Grand Canyon, to find this artifact. Although,*** Spoiler Alert*** what you dont find out until the end is that the God of Rock is actually Lou, which if you have played Guitar Hero: Legends of Rock, you would have met Lou for the first time in a guitar battle at the end of the career mode with the song The Devil Went Down to Georgia. The actually God of Rock is captured by Lou. Your objective is to find him and release him. Once you do, he offers you immortality, but your band rejects because they want to continue to rock the Earth with their music.

Gameplay:

Just like the previous evolutionary saga to the Guitar Hero franchise, Guitar Hero: World Tour, this game is played with up to four players offline: Lead guitar, Bass guitar, Drums and Vocals. This game is great because the song list is all the best songs from past Guitar Heroes, such as Carry on my Wayward Son and Barracuda. They also came back with the infamous Expert+ difficulty, found in Guitar Hero: Metallica, where the drums have to use two pedals to make the level of difficulty more advanced. I give the graphics of the game a solid 8/10 because of the crowd. It is just something about them that makes me want more detail. Online, players may select the Battle of the Bands mode where players face head-to-head against each other in a series of songs to claim victory as the ultimate band. Also, players may record songs in the Music Studio with their band or by themselves and upload them to a server called GHTunes, where songs from Smash Hits, Metallica, and World Tour can be shared throughout the games.

Controls:

Basically, the guitar has five colors: Green, Red, Yellow, Blue, and Orange.
Easy: Green, Red, Yellow
Medium: Green, Red, Yellow, Blue
Hard: Green, Red, Yellow, Blue, and Orange
Expert: Green, Red, Yellow, Blue, and Orange( Faster and more notes)
The Whammy bar gives you extra points on longs notes. It also increases star power if on a long note with star power included.
Drums has three drums, two symbols and one pedal ( unless you do Expert+ ). The most parts of the Drums are played in every difficulty except beginner, where you can hit any drum part to get points.
Vocals include a microphone, where if on beginner you can basically make any pitch and get the points, but on high difficulties you must stay on pitch to not cause yourself to fail the song.

Rating:
9/10

I give this game a solid 9/10 because I believe it has the best song selection out of all the Guitar Heroes. It is my favorite by far. The reason I didnt give it a Ten was because the online sometimes gets crashes, but it has mostly no lag. This game is great to play with friends with and have a great time.
