Synopsis(Wiki)
Beowulf: The Game is a hack and slash game for PC and consoles, based on Robert Zemeckis' version of the poem Beowulf. The game was announced by Ubisoft on 22 May 2007 during its Ubidays event in Paris.[5] It was released on November 13, 2007 in the United States. The characters are voiced by the original actors who starred in the film.

Story
Although it would be expected that Beowulf follow both the original story line of the english story, but if not follow the movie's story line. Beowulf follows neither of the story lines. Beowulf the game follows its own story line. The game begins with Beowulf and a friend racing on the beach, where they kill harmless creatures and such. When they near the sea, a giant serpent attacks the both of them. When Beowulf and the friend defeat the creature, and Beowulf is approached by Grendel's mother who grants him the wish, and so on. After the whole scenario, you go through Beowulf in the next couple years of his life, fulfilling the storyline of the actual movie and storyline.

Graphics
Graphics in this game may actually bring up its original score. The game features a lot of different scenarios and places to browse. The camera movements are nice, but even that doesn't amount to its crappy cut scenes and what not. The monsters in this game, may seem at first, nice and appealing, but all in all, they're just cartoonish drawings with some animation effects. And I'm not being critical about this being 2007, I'm saying in general. Some of the best games came out in 2007, and the graphics in this game were very "2004 like" or something from the past. Although some scenarios and drawings may seem cool at first, and some of them really do fulfill its nice appearence, but when they preview a scene and actually give it to you, it really makes a negative impact.

Gameplay
The gameplay in Beowulf is the same in almost every level; kill a bunch of weak bad guys, rinse, repeat, kill a boss, advance in the story, rinse, repeat, and go on. This game really dissapoints me in the gameplay aspect. When I first started playing this game, the first thing that came into my mind was the God of war aspect. On the IGN review, it also says that this game is just a cheaper rip off of the God of War series. The same type of monsters, and enmies, with different aspects of levels and worse level construction, and so on. This game has somewhat of a stronger hand to hand combat system than those of a sword. The game features a weaker sword system combat system, rather than making it stronger in which the game was originally made for. This is bad, because it demeans the original purpose, and although it does make punching and grabbing fun, it still doesn't really impress me that much in the sense of combat.

Reception
As expected, the reviews for Beowulf the game, received very low scores, and was embarassed receiving an entire overall score of around 44. IGN gave the game a total of 4/10, saying it was a lesser copy of a wanna be GOd of War. Many scores gave the game around either 3-7 and said it was just "overall bad".Overall, critics acclaimed this game as an upset, not even close to fulfilling the original story that own the attention of millions. The graphics were bad, gameplay was boring, and reception from professional critics was all around bad as well.
