The Simpsons Game is an action/platformer video game based on the animated television series The Simpsons, made for the Wii, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PlayStation 2, Nintendo DS, and PlayStation Portable. The game was developed, published, and distributed by Electronic Arts. It was released in North America in October 2007 and worldwide in November 2007. It features an original storyline written by Tim Long, Matt Selman, and Matt Warburton. In the self-referential plot, the family discovers that they are forced to participate in another The Simpsons video game. Similar to the show, the game pokes fun at popular culture, other video games, and Electronic Arts, its publisher.

Well the game setting was really good, it was set in like, the real world where the simpsons have found out that their a TV show and they out to save themselves from getting deleted, i loved this games setting as it took you to different worlds that have a theme of a game, which in a result became very amusing. Also the game was 3D free-roam, and any game that is a free-roam i basically instantly like, as there is more to do and you feel a sense of freedom in a way. Overall the setting was very good, the levels were pretty funny aswell.

The gameplay was amazingly fun, this probably has the best gameplay of any game based on a TV show. Out of the 5 Characters only 4 are playable for full missions, and maggie who is teamed up with marge is only payable twice for about a minute or two, but anyway each character had a power linked to their personality on the tv show. Like homer is fat, so when he eats food scattered around the map, he becomes a ball of fat, rolling and smashing through everything in his way. If he eats peppers he is able to use fire bombs and have the ability to use lava. If he eats Gummi Bears he is able to shoot Gummi grenades at enemies. When the opportunity comes along to inhale helium he turns into some sort of balloon and can float around, which can be used to get the higher places. He also has the power of releases a massive burp which stuns all enemies, which is funny/useful as you can then just kill them with ease. Bart was a good character, most of the time when he would come up he would be batman, which is weird as in the TV show when they dressed up as superhero's, he was dressed as one that looked like robin. But anyway his batman abilities make him Climb,Glide do flips and be able to use zip-lines, bart was my favorite character in this game, as he was defiantly the coolest. Lisa is actually quite cool at first your like oh she can kick thats boring, then it turns out she has the power to send lightning bolts toward enemies she can also make them fly off and have the power to freeze them, lisa was a pretty fun character to be in this game! Marge's power wasn't that great, her power was basically when she uses her persuasive powers to make mobs of angry people do things at her will, sounds good but it wasn't all it turned out to be. Overall the gameplay was really fun, i enjoyed the powers that all the characters had, and a great game even though it was based on a TV show.

The graphics for this game wee pretty good, they reminded me alot of family guy's graphics which were also really good, There was no glitches at all when i played this, and no frame-rate mess up when i threw loads of bombs at enemies. Overall pretty good graphics, couldn't get any better than these in 2007/8!

The controls for this game was pretty good, they were just simple as it was platformer, so it was basic controls, So no matter what age the game can be easy and enjoyable for everyone. I also liked the way the controls for each of the characters changed as they progressed and got new powers. Overall the games controls were simple which made the game pretty fun allround!

The game received mostly mixed to positive reaction, receiving an aggregated score of 71% on Metacritic for the Xbox 360 & PS3 version of the game. Praise focused on the game's visuals and writing, which lampooned the gaming industry and the show itself. The Simpsons Game won the award for Best Game Based on a Movie or TV Show at the Spike Video Game Awards 2007, and was nominated for the first-ever award for Best Video Game Writing at the Writers Guild of America Awards 2007. As of January 31, 2008, four million copies of the game have been sold. Peter Nowak of CBC News named it the third-best game of 2007 and described it as "easily the best game starring the wacky residents of Springfield".

Overall this game was one of the best purchases i bought, the campaign was pretty long, the graphics and gameplay was funny as anything also really enjoyable. Pretty much the best simpsons game they have brought out so far!
