What makes SSX Tricky so different compared to SSX is the gameplay around 'Uber Tricks'. Players are able to use these tricks in order to fill their special bar, gain mass points; and if landed all 6 Uber moves, without falling gain infinite boost througout the game. Boost allows the player to move faster, and straight. Increasing potential trick outcome.

SSX Tricky offers many new, and returning events such as Single Event; which involves the main player, and secondary if playing with a friend to ride down the map of your choice, and earn points. Medals are rewarded at the end of this Event.

Practice Events which allow the player to run maps without affecting their overall gameplay scores. Generally this was introduced so players could practice their moves, and learn new moves along the way.

World Circuit events are very important in SSX Tricky. They allow you to earn to players, boards, and clothes. Along with winning collectable medals (Bronze, Silver, and gold). The general idea of this event is to out-preform the AIs with a better overall point score. Your medal will depend on your score standings for that event.

Freeride events allows the player to play freely, not worrying about medals, or unlockables. You will still be pinned against AIs. Players tend to work on their 'Trick Chapters' here to eventually unlock more outfits.

SSX Tricky introduces a new aggression system. Hitting a friendly AI will make him/her agressive to you; and try to knock you down in the Race. Friendly AIs will help knock players around you off their boards, to give you an edge.

Gameplay Rating: 9

Graphics:

SSX Tricky was released in 2001; however for the time period its graphics excelled over many others. There was little overall graphics work needed for this game; allowing the developers to work harder on them in the long run.

There are no known animation problems/bugs so far; which made players of this game much happier then then first; considering all of the animation problems.

Overall Comments

Overall SSX Tricky is a very fun game to play; be it alone, or with a friend. It offers many events and unlockables to keep you entertained as you play. With stunning graphics for its time period, it's a must play.

I would recommend SSX Tricky to any person who wants a cheap, reliable, and fun game for the PS2.
