Synopsis

Section 8 is a futuristic first-person shooter that finds two factions, the 8th Armored Infantry and Arm of Orion, engaged in war over the right to colonize planets. Embark on a single-player campaign as a member of the 8th Armored Infantry in missions taking place on multiple worlds. You can also engage others in 16-player online combat, with or without computer-controlled bots, and battle the AI in instant action scenarios. Section 8 lets you customize your armored soldier's equipment and allows you to call on a dropship to deploy vehicles or weapons at any time and in any location. The dynamic battlefield ensures no two games will play exactly the same way, as objectives are updated in the heat of combat instead of being scripted in advance.

Gameplay

The game itself is actually not that bad. It's a really futuristic game and there are some really great moments in the game. Like first touching the ground after flying around in huge spaceship and killing an enemy mercilessly at the beginning of the story. The guns in this game are really decent and some guns are heavily overpowered than others. Some enemies take alot of damage in this game and this can be a nuisance. However, when you are aiming at an enemy you have the lock on option, where you can lock on to a certain part of an enemy and shoot at him continuously until he is dead. This can prove pretty helpful if trying to take down a few enemies but don't do it when you're surrounded as you're just leaving yourself vulnerable for other enemies to tear you down. An annoying aspect in this game is that when you get killed; in either the campaign or multiplayer; you have to wait a couple of seconds to drop down to the floor again. It's like a respawn countdown where you're in a ship and you fall from the sky and you land in an area where there isn't any enemies. I don't understand why they did not just let you respawn next to your allies instead of you coming down in a ship and being far away from the battle. However, the developers including in the game that if you sprint for longer than 3 seconds then you sprint really fast. This is useful as sometimes the game spawns you at the beginning of the mission, so you can just blaze trails and make your way right back into the fight. I like that they've done this, so that you're not forever running across a barren wasteland. You also have the ability to use a jetpack as well so you can get a height above your enemies and take them out with precision headshots. The environments are really vast, open and there's a lot of cover to protect yourself from enemy fire. You can interact with various objects in the game, such as hacking a computer and knocking down a tree to create a bridge. These features are really responsive and work great in the game. Campaign is really thorough and there's loads of missions that you can complete on a series of different levels. Easy, medium and hard. Simple and basic.

Graphics

Now graphics in this game are decent. The environments that you play in look pretty well constructed and have a good solid texture to them. Guns look good and some even have patterns and detail on them. Your armor that you have looks well crafted as you have lights and it really does have the detail that an armor should have. You can also unlock various other armors at the beginning of the game. Gunfire and grenade effects look explosive as they should and really pose that destructible atmosphere to your character. Only thing I would slate about the graphics are that the faces of some of the characters are blurry. Sometimes you can't even see some facial features. This is a problem for me and I do think that this is one thing that they developers should have addressed. Locking on to your enemies, blood spilling everywhere and ships exploding to smithereens are all clearly distinctive which is pretty great.

Overall, the game is really fun in various parts of the campaign and the multi-player is definitely worth trying out. Sucks about that ship landing respawn time though. Just can't believe it does it in the campaign and multiplayer but what can you do. You can pick this game up for quite cheap at local gamestores and there is even DLC for this game as well if you start playing multiplayer too much and start getting bored of the same maps.

Game Rating: 7/10 (Gameplay is enjoyable, graphics are great, controls are really responsive and I would recommend this game to quite a lot of people)
