Synopsis

Comely covert operative Rubi Malone accepts a potentially lucrative contract to find a socialite's rebellious son in this Kill Bill-inspired action game from Bethesda Software. A pastiche of '70s action films, Wet is a third-person shooter incorporating both sword fighting and acrobatic manoeuvres. The agile and adept Malone will travel to exotic locales across three continents to locate her target, who isn't what he seems. Malone needs to keep her wits about her as she battles countless enemies while running across walls, sliding across floors, and more in stylistic, slow-motion sequences. Athletic moves can also be linked together to create score-boosting, blood-splattering combos. Points earned during the campaign can be traded in for new moves and weapon upgrades to enhance Malone's damage output. Wet's story was penned by Duppy Demitrius, known for his work on television's 24, while actress Eliza Dushku (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Dollhouse) lends her voice to the sultry star.

Gameplay

This game is really exciting. There is so much that you can do in this game and personally I can say it's a lot of fun. In the game you play as an operative named Rubi. Rubi is very acrobatic as she can leap from building to building, jump around using environmental objects to aid her while shooting some bad guys at the same time. As you're acrobatic you can dive in mid-air and do a series of forward flips while shooting to take out your enemies. Two of my favourite moves in the game are the Low Rider and Chain Dive. Low Rider allows you to slide along the floor while on your knees while the game is in slow motion so you can get that all perfect headshot for the highest score. The Chain Dive is where you dive from a vantage point and the game will go in slow motion again when you tell it to. Once it's in slow motion, you can take your time to scout the area for nearby enemies and maybe even pick one or two off if you're quick enough. Ask you kill enemies in the game with various different combos you can buy upgrades for Rubi so that she deals even more damage. I use an environmental object in the game which was more than great fun when it was teamed up with a shotgun. I was sliding along a zip-line and there where enemies below, a shotgun and a frag grenade really does sort out the job and get you that all important score for your upgrades. Combining your guns and sword and doing it well really does make you feel invincible and makes this game that much more entertaining. Some enemies are somewhat difficult to take out in the game but if you have the right weapon and the right upgrades this shouldn't pose a threat. Sometimes you may get stuck on certain parts of the game, but the game will respond when you go next to a door or a gate and tell you to press a button to break down the door or climb over the gate so that was a real help if I ever got stuck. Gameplay is exciting and also there is so much that you can do in the game.

Graphics

Graphics in Wet look amazing. Everything looks really sweet and textured well. Cars, buildings, gun, suits even trees all look somewhat realistic. That's what makes a game enjoyable, that you can finely and clearly see what is in front of you. Rage mode looks amazing in High Definition as the Red, Black and White contrast so well with each other. Things like gunfire, grenade explosions and shooting flammable barrels are visually stunning if you do get the chance to blow one up without having your enemies shooting at you. Crosshairs on the game look great aswell and as they are quite red and bloody you really can see where you are shooting and what part of the body you can get the best combo. Slowing down time looks and sounds great as everything seems to become distorted for a few seconds which was a great feature and the it looks as if you are actually in slow motion. Once again, graphics are amazing. I honestly don't think I could've asked for better from a game that was released in 2009.

Overall, this game is exciting and exhilarating. I can guarantee that you will have fun with this game, if you don't return it of course. The game doesn't have any DLC and no multiplayer so once you play the campaign you might not play the game again. I could be wrong though. Game is really responsive to the controls and the game will prompt you sometimes when you get stuck.

Game Rating : 9/10 (Campaign is fun and enjoyable, graphics contrast really well with each other, combos are amazing when you hit one perfectly and effects look realistic)
