Gameplay

The legend of dragoon plays ALMOST like your basic turn-based RPG but has a really cool combat system that requires you to time the [] Square button right to unleash a combo, not only that but you select the combo that you would like to perform, my personal favorite was Darts (main characters) combo "Moon Rush" because it was difficult to pull off and very effective. The game consist of 4 disk. Each disk takes you to new and harder parts of the world. The best thing about this game is that anyone who is familiar with games like Final Fantasy will have NO problem getting the hang of it and will enjoy it thoroughly. The game itself looks amazing for a PS1 game, especially the cut scenes. The combat system works just like many RPGs were you walk around and randomly just encounter battles against your will. You have to level up your characters, and if you don't you will fail in boss battles. The boss battles are incredibly intense and take strategy. Throughout the game you will find rare items and weapons to sell or use, star dust in particularly is useless but sells for A LOT! like many RPGs throughout the game you get new party members and new skills. The main skill of the game is "Dragoon" which basically turns you into a half human, half dragon hybrid and lets you kick major butt!

Story line

The story starts off with Dart (main character) on his way back from a 5 year journey to find the "Black Monster" which killed his parents. On his way back he is attacked by a dragon and nearly killed but is saved by a girl named Rose, who soon parted ways with Dart. When Dart arrives home he finds his hometown destroyed by the Sandora. Dart finds out that a survivor his childhood friend Shana was captured and brought to Hellena prison. He sets off to rescue her and meets allies along the way. After saving her he sets off to destroy the "Black Monster" and is joined by a total of 9 allies along the way. Each character has their own reason for wanting the "Black Monster" dead but with a common goal in sight they unite and attempt to kill the monster. But its not that simple there is a HUGE twist that will either make or brake the game for some people depending on how much they have grown attached to certain characters.

Rating (and my opinion)

i rate the game 10/10

everything about the game was revolutionary for its time and was amazingly addictive. I beat the game at least 4 times and wish my PlayStation wasn't broken so I could play it again. I grew up playing RPGs on the PlayStation and I'm really sad that kids these days don't play these kinds of games anymore, its all about Call Of Duty and crap. The only RPG that they can get into is The Elder Scrolls. I will never stop loving these RPG classics that had more thought and heart put into them than any game out there now.

The only bad part about the game was when it was over you want to play more even knowing that you have put over 100 hours into it.
