DRAGUNOV

A semi-automatic Sniper Rifle with a 10-round clip, the Dragunov combines long-range capability with solid accuracy and damage, along with low recoil. This design - combined with your ability to consistently hit targets in the head or upper torso - allows for a quick succession of one-shot kills. However, don't get into close-quarters combat with this gun. Use its first-rate mobility to move quickly between vantage points before enemies can mark your location.
Tips

Pick your target and start pelting. While steady, accurate shots typically dictate a sniper's strength, the Dragunov performs well when used reflexively. Get the enemy in your crosshairs and shoot. Lead and shoot. Lead and shoot. The kick from each shot quickly re-centers, letting you get back on target without losing much time. Your quick aim will improve with experience until you can consistently take out multiple targets with one and two hit kills.

Because you tend to fire more shots with the Dragunov, the Suppressor is very useful in keeping down your visibility. For the same reason, Scout's breathing advantages let you punch out more shots before getting hit with sway. You may also want to consider Marathon. The weapon's light frame lets you move quickly, and coupled with Marathon you'll move around quickly enough to keep your enemies on their toes.

L96A1

Overview

The L96A1 is a bolt-action Sniper Rifle with a 5-round magazine. Its superior accuracy, range, and damage output make it the most powerful Sniper Rifle available. However, its capability to consistently land one-shot kills comes with a price. The L96A1 has heavy recoil and slow, manually operated bolt-action reloads. Be patient and carefully line up your shots. You'll need a lot of practice to be efficient with this weapon, but its power makes it worth the effort.
Tips

The classic Sniper Rifle. Most powerful in its class, the L96A1 has the highest one-hit kill potential, but trades recoil, fire rate, and center speed in exchange for the damage. This is the marksman's best friend. Line up the perfect shot and tally up the kill count. It's recommended to attack from long range whenever possible, as the L96A1's slow firing rate makes you vulnerable to multiple targets, with little in the way of defending yourself on the move.

The Variable Zoom is arguably the L96A1's Attachment of choice. While helpful to any sniper, the Suppressor's hit to damage over long range hinders the weapon's performance against far off targets. Using the Variable Zoom gives you great control over target acquisition. Choose the zoom that best targets your current mark. Perks are largely up to preference, but Hardline helps you earn Killstreaks more consistently, aided by your distance from the heat of battle.

PSG1

Overview

The PSG1 is a semi-automatic Sniper Rifle equipped with a 5-round magazine. This is the most balanced weapon in its class, with no glaring weaknesses. Its accuracy is unmatched, and its damage output is second only to the L96A1. With high mobility, this weapon is ideal for the sniper who likes to change locations between shots. Its reliable as a mid-range gun, however, like all Sniper Rifles, you don't want to engage in close-quarters combat.
Tips

Despite the PSG1's heavy kick, the recoil is predictable and center speed rapid. Master the rhythm and take advantage of the weapon's high power without getting thrown off target. A consistent firing rate gives you more freedom to move into mid-range once your target acquisition speeds up. Provide hard-hitting cover fire while moving up with your team. Just be sure to change locations once your enemy wises up to your position.

With only 5 bullets per magazine, Extended Mag and/or Sleight of Hand helps cut down reload times, reducing your vulnerability. If you plan on moving with your team and changing up location, the Variable Zoom helps make the most out of your current distance.

WA2000

Overview

The WA2000 is a semi-automatic Sniper Rifle with a 6-round magazine that can inflict significant damage with each hit. Its light recoil and solid accuracy allow you to stay on target without refocusing your sights. Its fast trigger pull allows for quick, successive shots. When you have a target in your sights, fire several times to increase your chances for a kill. The WA2000 is an exceptional weapon for long distance attacks. Additionally, you will be able to hold your own in mid-range combat.
Tips

The WA2000 has the lowest recoil of all the Sniper Rifles, allowing rapid follow up shots against mobile and multiple targets. Like the Dragunov, only shots to the chest or head will take out opponents in a single hit, so you've got to aim accordingly. Because of its follow up speed, the WA2000 gives you a little more flexibility in perch selection. Move with your team and remain a threat up to mid-range combat.

For a different take on sniping, try equipping the ACOG Sight. With such low recoil, you can fire off shots without losing sight of your target, and the reduction in zoom lets you push the boundaries and provide cover fire from the ground at mid-range. Couple this with the Suppressor and Ghost in larger maps, and wrack the enemy's nerves.
