Synopsis
Infamous 2 is a single player, Open World game, exclusive to PlayStation 3. The second chapter in the best selling infamous franchise, this immersive adventure offers a powerful, emotional, and visceral take on being a superhero, and the choices that involves. Features include: a unique blend of electrical and melee combat abilities, epic boss battles, a new morality system allowing for two possible game endings, user generated missions and more.

Cole MacGrath is back, more confident and with more focused energy burst abilities. Blamed for the destruction of Empire City, Cole must make a dramatic journey to discover his full super-powered potential - and face the final confrontation with a dark and terrifying enemy. This being, a creature of pure power and destruction is annihilating the East Coast. To stop this menace, Cole must find the key to unlocking his undiscovered powers hidden deep within New Marais. Standing in the way is a power-hungry dictator that will stop at nothing to rid him from the city. Gain enough power to defeat The Beast or witness the destruction of the world. The power is in your hands.

Cole returns in infamous 2 as a more focused, more dangerous superhero in the making.

Like its predecessor, infamous 2 is a single player Action-Adventure game set in an Open World game environment. Players take on the role of Cole, the returning anti-hero from the first game. Possessing electric burst abilities through his hands Cole has matured a bit as a superhero type, being more confident and focused in his abilities. He uses these abilities, as well as improved melee possibilities to battle enemies both large and small in mission-based gameplay. Along with combat, choice remains a big part of the game, with an improved morality system that allows for two separate endings to the game, depending on the choices that Cole makes.

Unlike the original game in the series, infamous 2 contains significant user generated content tools that dramatically expand gameplay possibilities. Centered around a creation tool system, this allows players to create original missions and share them with other players via PlayStation Network. These function more or less as side quests once they are accepted, adding to the player's point total, but not altering the primary mission flow and morality-based aspects of the game.

Key Game Features
*A True Superhero Experience - Discover what it means to be a true superhero with epic boss battles and powerful cinematic sequences
*Advanced Super Powers - Experience being a full-blown superhero with enhanced electrical attacks, a visceral melee fighting system and new superpowers
*An All-new Open Dynamic Gameworld - Explore a vibrant world in the city of New Marais with increased interactivity and destruction using dynamic parkour moves
*New Morality System - All new morality system gives players freedom of choice and leads to 2 different endings
*User Generated Content - Create and share original missions with a built-in tool set that function as side quests

Story
Set shortly after the happenings of its prequel, we find ourselves back in control of Cole MacGrath - for those of us who've played the first game we get to load existing game data which will give you a nudge in the right direction (level 1 good or evil, depending on how you played Infamous) - awaiting the arrival of 'the Beast'. For those of you in the dark as far as Infamous is concerned, the Beast is made out to be Infamous' equivalent of Galactus (devourer of worlds from the Marvel comic series), here to end life on this planet as we know it unless some powerful opposing force is willing to stop him.
Geared towards this, we find our initial spawn en route to the battle, and Cole is powered up with all available tricks and abilities at his disposal for the task at hand.
A fight between Cole and the Beast takes place with both sides taking sufficient damage, and neither force emerging on top. After the battle Cole wakes in hospital where he's being treated for his injuries to find that the majority of his powers have left him, and that the Beast was able to fully recover from its own injuries overnight obviously some serious rethinking is required before round 2 takes place.
After some discussion between Cole and Zeke it is decided that the only way to move forward is to get Cole collecting Blast Cores (7 of them, to be precise) so he can increase his powers beyond what they previously capable of, and allow him to make use of a new piece of technology named the RFI (Ray Field Inhibitor blocks powers) which will block out the Beasts abilities and level up the playing field.
A race then ensues for the future of this world between Cole and the Beast will Cole find the 7 fragments in time or will the Beast find him again first.
In Infamous 2 you aren't only helped by Zeke this time, but also Kou and Nix (who are basically yin & yang/devil & angel); you can chose to play missions with Nix to become infamous (evil) or help Kou clean up society and become famous (good).

Gameplay
The game plays out nearly exactly like its predecessor, with the user taking third person control over Cole and exploring freely an open world engine in a bid to undercover secrets, increase your powers and ultimately thwart your nemesis. Cole has a number of abilities which are either developed or supplemented as the game progresses (depending on how you progress it). There are three aspects to Cole's character that the user must take note of; health, which is depleted when Cole is injured and shows up as redness (blood) on the screen - this dissipates with either time or electricity. Energy, which is displayed as joined dots at the top left (used up when powers are used, and recovered when electrical outlets are drained), and lastly Karma, which is found next to energy also at the top left (and determines which types of powers Cole will utilise during his campaign).
Much like a Grand Theft Auto with superpowers, you're tasked to explore this world and seek out the missions by use of a mini-map radar, which identifies the locations of any primary or side quests near your current location.
As you progress through the story you will be charged with your own moral decisions (play Nix's missions to become more evil, or Kou's missions to become more good) and subsequent consequences. Or, if like me you loved the game, play it through multiple times and see the story from all angles.
The combination of powerful talents, flashy new hand-to-hand combat abilities and the open world engine make for a very entertaining game that is easy to spend hours lost in, even after the campaign has finished.

Graphics
Both Infamous games are brought to us with an aspect of cartoon graphics (bringing the subtle impression that this game has been torn from the pages of Marvel and thrown hot into your Playstation). Games such as these can often fool the player into undervaluing the graphical development of the game, as the majority of our graphical comparisons are made against 'realism'. While this is true to some extent for Infamous 2, it's also fairly apparent that some under-the-hood modifications have taken place. The look and feel of the city is just incredible, and utterly fluent in regards to its life and architectures (any FPS issues in the first game have been ironed out in the sequel).

Controls
Cole's power, health and karma can be monitored by gauges at the top left of the screen. A min-map is populated with missions/quests/activates that can be undertaken at the bottom left, and players can decide on which powers to buy/use by selecting them from an in game HUD which is displayed by use of the DPAD. This is all quite simple and intuitive to pick-up, which matches the player character controls for ease of use.

The Synopsis is the manufacturer's description of the game. The Story, Gameplay, Graphics and Controls are all written by me.
