Introduction:

I know a lot of people have posted before that you need to be on the 7371 kernel or lower to have a Jtaggable console, but at the end of the day,it is not as simple as that.

I am making this solely to stop someone wasting their money on a console, that in fact is not Jtaggable and is,a waste of both their time, and their money.

Thanks to Colorado880 for helping me with a few things in relation to the post.

I didn't steal this post from anywhere,I made it myself from scratch and researched information to make sure it was as correct as possible,I may have made a mistake or two in the post, but we're all human.

So with that said,I will start.

Note: Anywhere I use "X" represents a variable number, mainly for kernels.

Basics:

There is three basic factors with Jtaggable consoles that are known as fact.

They are:

No console on/above 2.08XXX.0 Kernel is Jtaggable.

A console MUST be on/below the 7371 Kernel to be Jtaggable.

Some Circuit Board versions ARE NOT exploitable, thus voiding a console of being Jtaggable.

These are facts, which I will elaborate on during the guide.

Kernels:

So lets start with the obvious, the exploitable kernel versions.

Basically, any console under 7371 may be exploitable, however,a lot of consoles on 7371 and 7363 are not exploitable due to their Circuit Boards, commonly known as "CB's".

It is very important to keep in mind that console manufacture AFTER the 17th of June 2009 ,may still be on an exploitable Kernel, but are highly likely to not be on an exploitable Circuit board, however it is important to check as it is possible they may be exploitable.

So how do you check your kernel version? Simple,go onto your Xbox 360 console and do the following.

On your Xbox 360 console, find system settings, and follow the arrows.

System Settings --> Console settings --> System Info

It will the the number beside "Dashboard".

It will look something like "2.013146.0",that being the current version that is out.

Take what is after the 2.0 and before the .0 and you have your kernel basically,in this case being 13416.

Since the 5th of December 2009 (Release of the 8495 kernel),if you are on kernel 8495 or higher,it is NOT possible to install any of the following:

Xell
XBReboot
Freeboot

Since you cannot install these to your console,it means you are unable to Jtag the console,so this is why the 8495 update disables you from being able to exploit consoles.

At the end of that day,if your console has 2.08XXX.0 as it's dashboard version, then it is not exploitable.

Note: In case you forget, X = A Variable (Represents a number basically)

Note: It is not possible to downgrade a retail consoles Kernel so it becomes exploitable, once it is done,it is done.

Circuit Boards:

Lets start with the simple things.

A circuit board,is the same as a motherboard.

Hopefully this should clear somethings up for the newer members,or members unacquainted with the internals of an Xbox 360.

Now down to the technical side, along with the kernel needing to be exploitable, the circuit board also NEEDS to be exploitable for the Jtag hack to work.

Without them,it will not work.

Think of it like a fire,a fire needs Oxygen,a fuel, and an ignition to be created, and a Jtag needs an Xbox 360 with both an exploitable Kernel and an exploitable CB to be created.
If you take anyone one of the components needed,it won't happen.

So now your probably wondering how to check what CB you have and how to check it.

To check the circuit board of an Xbox 360 console you must extract your NAND from the console.

Note: A console DOES NOT have to be Jtagged for you to extract it's NAND.

I'm not going to get into how you extract a console NAND here, but you can easily find out how from HERE

To check your CB version once you have your Nand, open it in 360 Flash Tool and it will tell you it.

Knowing your CB is important,as some of these versions have bee patched, disabling the Jtag Hack, thus making the console non-Jtaggable.

Here are all the patched CB versions:

Xenon: 1922, 1923, 1940, 7373
Zephyr: 4571, 4572, 4578, 4579, 4580
Falcon/Opus: 5771
Jasper: 6750

If the CB version is on this list, the console is not Jtaggable, regardless of it's Kernel version.

Here is a diagram I found online, which may make this easier to understand.

As you can see,all the patched CB versions lead to the 8453 CPU Key encryption, basically this means that it is not exploitable.

Conclusion:

If an Xbox 360 console is on/under the 7371 kernel, that is NOT on of the patched CB versions shown above, then that console is exploitable to the Jtag hack, allowing it to run unsigned code, also known as homebrew.

Like I said before,I typed all of this out myself, over about two hours typing and changing things and formatting the post to look organised, along with a further hour or two researching online,so if your going to say I stole this post, don't bother.

Hopefully this helps some people understand what an exploitable Xbox 360 console is and save some people from buying what they think is a Jtaggable, that turns out to not be exploitable.

If there's anything you don't understand, send me a PM or post on the topic and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.

If you like it,leave a reply or thank the topic just to keep it alive.
