Duke Nukem is one of the biggest and most recognizable brands in gaming history. Irreverent, un-PC, and uber-macho, Duke Nukem is the perfect antidote to the overdose of today's clichd gaming archetypes. The game's cocktail of alien invasion, busty babes, bawdy comedy and big guns never gets old. The highly anticipated Duke Nukem Forever is a celebration of what video games are really about: A LAUGH OUT LOUD GOOD TIME!

The game is HUGE. With hours and hours of over-the-top single player action, and a range of bodacious multiplayer modes like Duke Match, Capture the Babe and Hail to the king, players can rest assured knowing that the fun will last.

Features

*Bust a Gut: Duke pulls no punches. He does and says the things you are thinking. Duke's constant stream of hilarious one-liners throughout the game will have gamers rolling
*World Interactivity: Spend as much time as you want shooting hoops, lifting weights, playing pinball, pool, air hockey, and slots. even the urinals are interactive
*Scale & Variety: This game has it all
*Packed with explosive FPS action, outlandish settings, vehicle driving, and puzzle solving gamers will never tire of the endless FUN
*Multiplayer Like No Other: Duke re-envisions classic modes of play in his own hilarious and humiliating way. Shrink your opponent and squash him with your foot. Freeze and shatter him. Attach explosives to his back. Roll a pipe bomb between his legs, or just frag him old-fashioned with a rocket

Story
Who doesn't love the foul mouthed delinquent sexist womanising 80's throw-back that is Duke Nukem, and after 12 years of waiting for this title to be built, I expected nothing but the best - unfortunately, I think it fell short of the mark. Let me tell you why...

Kicking off 12 years after the previous instalment of the brand, Duke is now an A-list star wanted by women and envied by men. Based on Duke's ego (which is also Duke's health) we find our hero sitting on a couch playing a Duke video game. Duke grunts and groans as he wields twin plasma bazookas in a bid to annihilate the love child of Godzilla and Leonardo (teenage mutant ninja turtles, not the artist). As the demon spawn goes down and Duke gives off one last almighty groan you assume he's just pleased with how the game went, until however the camera pans down to show two blondes dressed in school-girl uniforms between Duke's legs who've been... helping him relieve some tension as he plays. "Was it good for you Duke?" they ask, "It better be, I've waited 12 years for it" he replies - and this sets the style of humour for the game moving forward. From there we're told it's time for a TV interview, so reluctantly we leave the couch in search of our in-house TV studio, however as we proceed to it an urgent broadcast takes over the TV screen informing us that aliens have once again invaded the planet (must be Wednesday). Since the show is now cancelled we retreat to Duke's lounge for some R&R, but upon entering we discover that the President and his military General are awaiting him via video conference. We're told that the President is in talks with the Aliens in search of a diplomatic solution, and not to bring any harm in hopes of a peaceful solution. As you can imagine, it doesn't quite turn out like that...

Gameplay
You can tell from the level progressions and classic style 'big boss' endings that this game originated from the late 90's and spanned a number of video game fashions. The game is packed with classic arcade style fun and will bring back some golden memories of great nights spent dealing equal amounts of pain with one liners of the kind that only Duke, Arnie and possibly Jean Claude Van Dam can get away with. However, the word 'classic' can't be over used here. Half an hour into the game we're slapped across the face with the fact that this is essentially a PS2 game with great graphics; player movements, level construction and enemy attack dimensions scream 'been there, done that, and wore the t-shirt'. It seems at times like the games plot and layout were designed back in 1997 and never further developed, with sequences and puzzles that worked so well in that time period failing horribly to re-enact the same feeling now. So what does DKF bring to the table you ask? Much like watching a rerun of your favourite Arnie movie you get to sit back, switch-off, and point-shoot-kill in all its linear glory!!!

Graphics
The graphics are decent and are comparable to titles such as GoW2 - not unsurprising considering the developers have most likely had to adapt the game to run over 3 or 4 different gaming engines in the time that it's been in development. Occasional FPS lag occurs on the 360 at least, which can be frustrating in the games faster battle sequences where speed is key.

Controls
The controls match the simplistic crush, kill, destroy mentality of the game and as such players will have no issue getting to grips with annihilating their enemies. A small perma-HUD on the bottom left of the screen displays the added extras which you may require during level progression (Duke vision, beers, etc.) and is accessed by DPad.

This game is quite awful. I was so excited until I finally got the game. I wanted more from it, and expected more as well.
