Synopsis

Guitar Hero Live is a music video game developed by FreeStyleGames and published by Activision. It was released for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Wii U, Xbox 360, and Xbox One in October 2015 and to iOS devices including Apple TV in November 2015. As with previous games in the series, the goal is to use a special guitar controller to match fret patterns displayed on a scrolling note pattern on screen in time with the music.

Gameplay

Some say a competitor to the game Rock Band, Guitar Hero Live uses a guitar control where you push the coordinated buttons as shown on screen. Guitar hero live is the most recent Guitar Hero game to be published and is a huge change to what we know of the series. This one for sure takes on the title Live. For each song you play you are put into a live concert playing the song you've chosen to try to rack up as many score as you can. The guitar you use is no where near similar to the old guitars. You will have 3 columns of notes but only hitting 3 main ones, the others you hold for black notes that show up on screen. And remember if you find a song to difficult or just want to get use to the guitar you can also go to the lowest difficulty whenever. The one thing that surprised me about this game is how unique the crowd is when playing for them. If you happen to miss some notes or do awful the crowd will adjust to your playing habits and start booing you. If you are doing good they will sing along and cheer the hell out of you. And of course as like the other Guitar Heros, this is based on a point system. The more notes you hit and longer streaks you hit, the better score you'll get. And there is also a multiplier making your score go higher and higher for how long you can keep a note streak.

Graphics

Like I said before, this game is all about playing live in a concert. I really don't know how they did it but it seriously feels like you're playing on a stage at a concert. They really used a great camera to take the videos of each concert and it's a really smooth game. I mentioned this before but the crowd does boo you when you do bad on a song or just on a solo. Each note that is shown on the screen has incredible details and looks great when you strum the notes. The overdrive in this game is also a great example of graphics in this game. The notes light up in a cyan blue color with flames when strumming them. It also seems like sometimes your guitar display changes sometimes varying on the song you are playing. The main menu is also filled with great pictures of famous rockers and designs to make it look better.

Controls

Like the older Guitar Heros, you will have to buy a whole new guitar that is not accessible with the older Guitar Heros but In my opinion this games guitar wasn't as good as the last ones. You will have 6 keys to press with 2 in each column. You can also buy a mic if you feel like you're in the singing mood. Everything for the microphone is controlled by your control but singing is through the mic. No settings can be changed for the guitar but can be looked at if you happen to be confused or need some help. But speaking about the guitar, they really but a lot of detail into making the guitar looking like a real rockers' guitar.

Nice review yet again Tom, keep them review coming.
I used to play Guitar Hero on the Xbox 360. That was like over 5 year ago or something stupidly long time ago. Enjoy that but I would like to have a go on this game for sure.

Wasn't a big fan of this guitar hero since it seemed different to the old other ones.

Nice review though, <3

My girl and I really like these games. I haven't checked this one out but it looks like a lot of fun. A song list would be cool, but the pictures make up for it cause damn the graphics look good on this one. Great review of a classic series game man, thanks!
