I'm playing Minecraft on Xbox One and I can't join a friends game.
We both have each other added and I don't have any family settings on.
Why is this?
I have tried restarting the app several times

Hard reset the xbox bud Hold the off button for 10 seconds till it completely shuts off. and check what nat type you have and make sure he has the same one

maybe the NAT type might be an issue

Hard reset your router and your xbox. It could be an issue with the xbox itself, or maybe even your internet connection. Have your friend to the same as well.

I was having the same problem what I did to fix it was, I did a hard restart on my Xbox and have your friend remove you off his friends list and you remove him, ass each other back and it should be fine
