So I left my mk6 out in a parking lot only to come to find some **** head scratched up my trunk.. is their any thing I can buy online to remove the scratches. They aren't big at all and are hardly visible unless you go like 2feet from it but as a car guy this just pisses me the hell off..

Also, my father had the same issue except he left his car out by his work and he was working during the night to get some things done and when he got out at like 6am somebody scratched his whole windshield with a key, going up and down..

Pour water over it. Does the scratch disappear? If it does you should be able to just wax them and they will go away. If they disappear with water but not with wax, try a light rubbing compound then wax again.

For a keyed car, all you can do it touch up paint as it will be down to base metal unless a **** did it.

Ouch scratches on the windshield are rough to fix. There are some fixes though for a light scratch you could use some acrylic scratch filler, can usually buy at Walmart. But if it is a deep scratch, you might have to buff it out with cerium oxide which can be quite expensive and hard to find, or even replace the windshield.

Wax does not remove scratches.

If it catches your fingernail you'll need at least to wetsand it, followed by compound, then followed up with a finishing polish.... with a DA Polisher

If it doesn't catch your fingernail you should be able to get by with a mild polish... with a DA polisher.

In reality nothing removes scratches, we only fill them or smooth them out. Wax will make it so you won't see a scratch in the clear coat. You have three main paint layers, primer, paint, then clear coat.

Your small scratches usually don't hit the paint so the only reason you can see them is because the clear coat now has an imperfection that the light is hitting.

By applying wax, it will fill in that imperfection allowing light to flow smoothly and it appears you don't have it.

We see this easily when we have a scratch but it somehow disappears when it's wet. The water fills in the imperfection and gives us a nice smooth finish until the water dries up.

When you sand it down and polish it, you're just giving that tiny scratch more area so it can't be seen.

You can't get rid of a scratch unless you paint over it lol.

Also, for those people on a budget, rubbing compound already is wet sanding. Wet sanding is just using sand paper and having to keep the work area wet. Rubbing compound is a paste that's already wet and has small pieces of grit like sand paper. Some people prefer wet sanding, others prefer compound. Wet sanding is more precise as you can tell when it's dry but compound you'll be tempted to get a couple extra swirls in and give yourself more scratches. Start high (low number) and work your way down (high number). When looking at sand paper and compounds, when it says for example 500 grit, that means that there is 500 pieces of grit per 1 square inch of the paper.
