What GPU do you have? Did you make sure you set the refresh rate to that in windows?

Right-click on desktop > Resolution > Advanced settings > Monitor > change refresh rate

Use Displayport or DVI.

HDMI 1.4b only supports 1080p @ "120Hz" for 3D where "frame-packing" is used. This means 1.4b isn't actually capable of 120Hz sequential frames.

HDMI 2.0 can do 1080p @ 144Hz, but both the monitor and the graphics card have to have 2.0 controllers. I can't tell if that monitor has a 2.0 controller.

My GPU has a DP port but the monitor doesn't??? So how was I supposed to get 144hz?

You can just use DVI if you don't have Displayport.

And that would be capable of hitting 144hz? DVI to what?

DVI from your card to DVI on the monitor. You could also use a DUAL LINK Displayport to DVI adapter.
