It's been almost 3 years since my last tattoo and I'm finally finishing off most of my half sleeve tomorrow. Any tips for dealing with the pain?

Take some painkillers mate hahaa no but seriously I don't think there's nothing to make your tattoo less painless you just have to deal with the pain. You may think of something else while the artist is drawing your tattoo.

Punch it and slap it. The tattoo is saying it's in charge, you need to beat it up to show that you are in charge.

Pain is your body telling you that something is wrong and it's to be expected when you're getting your skin pierced by needles.

As suggested above, you could take painkillers but you shouldn't really need them. Just keep calm and don't panic, the first couple of minutes will be the worst but it shouldn't be as painful after that.

I honestly watch a movie on my phone. I'm in the process of getting my back covered. I'm almost finished and I learned that focusing on another thing helps void the pain unless it's over a main nerve or bone. Then nothing besides medication helps but eventually your body will reject it and it won't help with the pain

Dont take pain killers, pain killers thin your blood out and you WILL bleed ALOT more if you take pain killers. IF YOU DO take pain killers seriously let your artist know. If you start bleeding everywhere while your artist is mid sesh they will more than likely be upset at you for hiding the fact that you took a cop out on the pain killers.. taking pain killers before a tattoo kinda defeats the purpose of getting one. Might aswell draw on your skin with a sharpie and call it a tat.

How to deal with the pain, do whatever you did for the other part of your sleeve? Also dont get drunk, thats seriously just stupid and I will never understand why people do it.

What you CAN do that isnt stupid
-Chew gum.. ALOT
-Get to know your artist and talk while they are tattooing
-Bring someone with you, girlfriend, boyfriend whatever.
- Regulate your breathing so your heart rate doesnt spike
-I dont recommended it but you can find non blood thining pain killers so sure, if you really want a cop out you can do that but let your artist know.

There really is no way to help make the experience less painful, more measures you can take to make the healing process a bit better though.

This won't help, if anything it will worsen the experience. Pain killers thin your blood and cause you to bleed more, if the bleeding is too much the artist will have to stop. Vicodin is one of the few that won't cause thinning of the blood, but it's still not suggested to take it. Don't offer advise like this if you don't know what you're talking about.

He's asking for advice and you're making jokes? Maybe you should take it a little more serious.
