lolohnoeszsz wrote I wouldn't recommend an RX 480. Sure it's cheap and gives GTX 970 performance but for a little extra you can get a GTX 1060 or 1070 which are miles ahead of the RX 480.

GTX 1070 is like twice the price of an RX 480. That's not "a little extra". GTX 1060 hasn't released yet, and there are no legitimate benchmarks, we don't know yet if the 1060 out-performs the 480.

I'm sure the 1060 will be faster than the 980 ti. Price is questionable I'd say anywhere from $300-400.

Also price point from the RX480 to 1070 is only like $150-200 so yeah a "little extra".

The GTX 1060 absolutely won't out-perform the 980Ti, because then the 1070 would make no sense and NVidia would be shooting themselves in the foot. It'll be GTX 980 performance, at most. It will probably be better than the 480 in certain games, like Fallout 4, but the 480 will probably pull ahead in other titles. It absolutely won't be anywhere from $300-$400. There's no way a GTX 1060 will be more than $350 because that's way too close to GTX 1070 prive, and then no 1060's would sell. We already know Zotac 1060s will be available for $260. You can get a 480 for like $230 ez, it's pretty hard to get a 1070 for $430, that's a $200 difference, that's not "a little extra" at all. That's almost twice the price.

There's a couple up for pre-order in the UK. Haven't seen any on US sites yet though.

Any 480 or 1060 will be compatible. GTX 1060 releases on the 19th and apparently aftermarket variants will be available immediately. If you go for the 480, any non reference 480 will be fine, doesn't matter what brand. They should have been available today I think, but apparently not. There have been 2 480s for pre-order in the UK for like a week now though, so they aren't far off.

Avoid Gigabyte, if something goes wrong you might be screwed. I am talking from personal experience with their RMA department. I have had great experience with Asus and EVGA (nvidia). I would wait until benchmarks are out and get the better card.

This is my build

Everyone everywhere online says the phantex case gets extremely hot due to horrid airflow.

I have an HP Pavilion p6710f Athlon II

Is the hp better or compatible? Should i drop both of them and get something else? IT would save 70$ using the HP but need you all's professional opinion.
