i have wondered if halo is dead because i and a friend want to make halo content
but don't know if we will receive good amount of viewers
and I am also interested in getting into Competitive Halo but don't know if i will get far
into it and if i will I be able to make a living not saying i will be the best but i want to put in time into things that can help me in life

I don't think it's dead and it was recently announced that it is the exclusive game that sold the most on both consoles.

It depends on your definition of "dead". Personally i think it died after Halo 3. Theres barely any old school players anymore.
People are more interested in ranks then customs games and glitches now which to me is a surprise.
Dont start a series on youtube because back in the day that was my bigest mistake for youtube. Live stream it. Youll get a lot more views and potential donations that way as well as you can grow a fan base. Going from there you can try to upload a video and tell your followers but im going to say youtube is a no, cam while streaming is a yes.
