Yes, I'm heading off to college and do not want to bring my pc with me and i would like to be able to use the laptop for notes and classwork and such.

A lot cheaper but the only real difference is the CPU. i5-6300 will do fine for most games. Also comes with a 256GB SSD, might wanna get a secondary drive (There is a spot for a 2.5" SSD/HDD).

No need for a "gaming" laptop if it's for school work. Just buy a cheap(ish), fairly decent laptop for working on. Since you have a desktop anyway, as you said yourself, you can use that for your "gaming".

Why would you use it for gaming though? The whole point of it is to take to school as you said, not to play games with. Use your PC to play games.
