Well,

NOTE: I've played console games all my life including COD from Call of duty big red 1. I'm not an elitist

Firstly you require a brain; this I find is hard if making the switch from console games. CS takes a bit of brains to play and pre round planning.

Dont move and fire you gun UNLESS its tec-9 (spray n pray) or a SMG which can be used while moving of some sorts. MOVING MAKES AIM SHIT ! simple as...

Play deathmatch till you are familiar with the controls and guns. Then move onto comp.

Watch Pro games and see how they play.

Learning spray patterns are good if you want to be okay in deathmatch or casual lobbies.
If you want to become good in competitive learn to tap shoot/burst fire by the time it takes you to move your mouse to center the spray you will be dead.

Also learn callouts, flashes, nades, smokes and get some teammates that you can work with, most of the time when I get people who can't listen and argue we lose.

Good luck and welcome to CS!

P.S PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT!

Respirator wrote Learn spray patterns on the AK-47, M4A1/M4A4 and P90. The rest are irrelevant to be honest.

Always aim for the head, since most guns are a one shot kill, this will give you a huge advantage.

Expect the unexpected, don't come round the corner not expecting to see someone, make sure you're expecting someone there and ready to shoot.

Pick a sensitivity between 1.8-2.4 (400DPI) nearly all professional players use this because it gives the most advantage.

And lastly, just play the game and learn what maps you like and before you go into competitive, be sure to know pop-flashes and smoke grenades for those three maps and you'll be fine!

Good Luck!

Learn the p90 spray pattern ?! Mate have you played against MG's ?
