So I was thinking, are gaming keyboards actually worth the money.

They are pretty expensive, whats so good about them compared to just a regular keyboard.

thanks

I use a regular gaming keyboard, not the mechanical ones because I feel like that won't make any significant difference to gameplay other than the feel. I have a regular keyboard with led lights. It's called the Perixx PX1100 or something, look it up it's really cheap.

I Use a gaming keyboard and its okay, but it isnt no better than any other keyboard that I have used. But mine may just be a bad one.

I personally prefer to use normal ones. My gaming one is just too big and has too many features and buttons etc...

Not much difference to be honest.

If by "gaming" you mean mechanical and not just a regular keyboard branded as a "gaming" one as the user above sounds like he has, then yes they are worth it. The mechanical switches are just a pleasure to type on and they definitely make your gaming experience much more pleasurable.

Gaming/Mechanical keyboards are very much worth it. If you look after them and don't smash it about you should have it for a long long time. Worthy investment if you ask me. I have razer blackwidow and its amazing.

I'm going to ignore the "gaming" keyboard phrase and jump straight into mechanical keyboards. A "gaming" keyboard is pretty much a rubber dome keyboard with macros and pretty lights.

A mechanical keyboard on the other hand is a master piece of equipment. Basically, normal cheap keyboards have rubber under the key and mechanical ones well... dont. They use a plastic switch which have different typing characteristics. [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] is a good guide.

Have a read but TL;DR - A mechanical keyboard will change your typing exprience forever. Once you go mechanical, you wont go back.

Well first, they have faster reaction so basically it clicks in faster to give you an edge in gaming, second if it lights up you can set custom patterns to help you in games (highlight the WASD keys or something). Third, most have programmable keys or extra keys to help you by setting up macros. And overall they just feel better during gaming.

IMO it doesn't even matter what kind of keyboard you're using. I've been using a normal keyboard all my life of gaming and I find nothing wrong about it. As long as it's comfy to use I don't think a gaming keyboard is necessary.
