Once upon a time the tech games used to not allow asking rep/thanks, rep/thanks used to mean something but now.. now it means nothing (to a degree) now that you can just ask for it

mmm nope. it literally never meant anything.
He basically meant, rep and thanks were actually earned back then, but now not so much
I don't take much notice of those sigs really, in fact I do the opposite of what the sig says hehe.

It's allowed because we removed the rule regarding asking for thanks and rep. In the end it's just a different amount of 1s and 0s on a website.

Rep was always just something to have, no one ever really wanted alot of rep. It just happened.
1,000 thanks though is something people went for though.
