10 Second Ninja

Game Information:
Release Date: 5th March, 2014
Developers: GameDesignDan
Publishers: Mastertronic
Platforms: Windows / OS X
Genre: Action, Indie
Players: Single Player

Synopsis
Ninjas are cool, this is an established fact of the universe. Nazi Robots from space are not cool, they are the complete opposite of cool, and Robot Hitler is out to get you, the world's first ninja. You have 10 seconds to destroy all Nazi Robots in your vicinity. IT. IS. ON.

Gameplay
This game is a very fast paced action game, it's in the name, 10 second ninja; the goal of the game is to kill all the Nazi robots on the level in under 10 seconds.
Controlling a fast and agile ninja trained to double jump, armed with a broad slashing katana and three deadly shurikens, throughout most of the game, each of these attacks are one hit kills. Messing up and attack will cost you valuable milliseconds which will probably result in a huge fail.
The quicker you can demolish the Nazi robots the higher your score will be, 2 stars never seems satisfying so shaving that 0.20 seconds off for the 3 stars can really be a sweaty challenge but always results in pure fulfillment.

10 second ninja is a very good game if you're interested in speed-running or even to challenge yourself and get 3 stars on all levels. Each level gets harder and harder throughout the stages and is guarded by robot Hitler himself at the end of each stage, fend him off to progress onto the next zone.
If you really want to test yourself, you can actually complete the game in around 2 minutes (see bottom for video).

Graphics
10 second ninja has a very simplistic, pixel perfect level design which is essential to pull off split second attacks with deadly precision, an uncluttered environment allows the player to focus on destroying the targets quickly without getting distracted by fancy graphics.
The level design is also very simplistic, however - even though it's so simple, the chances of getting lost or going the wrong direction to shave off the few seconds you have left until 3 stars is pretty high.

When in range of a deadly shuriken throw, enemies have a red circle around them, this is really helpful when trying to get within the few pixels of attacking before turning around and leaping up to another platform. The animations are very nice and simple, a nice slashing animation for your sword and sharp trail for your shuriken. Double jumping is also very satisfying in this game, as you double jump, you even do a front flip for maximum 'ninja-ness'!
The style of 2D graphics really suit the games genre and play-style in my opinion, I'm glad it doesn't have fancy 3D graphics with amazing animations otherwise it would throw me off the time splitting goal I have to complete.

However, I feel like slapping Swastika's on robots and having a robot Hitler as the main villain would offend quite a few people, maybe it wasn't the best solution to a humorous story-line but thankfully steam doesn't have restrictions against these kind of things.

Controls
The controls are fairly simple, using the arrow keys to move and double jump, Z to slice using your katana and X to throw your deadly shurikens; I feel like these are all you really need in a fast paced, hardcore action game like this.
If the controls were anymore complex, the game would be way too complicated and would have to be called 2 minute ninja.

WR - Completing the game in 136.32 seconds!

Gameplay: 7 / 10
Graphics: 7 / 10
Controls: 8.5 / 10
Overall: 8 / 10

This is a good review of this 10 Second Ninja. I completely agree with you on the fact that this would probably offend a lot of people. The idea of the game seems completely different, as it has nazis, a ninja, and is super fast paced, just weird lol

This game looks super strange but cool at the same time! 10 seconds to finish a level seems hard but I love a challenge. Good review man
