There is no harm in overclocking your GPU or CPU.

If your rig can handle the extra strain and heat, go for it. Make sure you test before you overclock and after to see if your actually gaining anything.

I have a GTX970 and an i5 and i get 100+ fps on maxed. (h1z1)

There can be harm done when overclocking, and it voids warranty.
