Nothing happened to it, they just didn't make it i guess. I think Windows 10 is meant to be the superior OS, therefor they didn't want it being a weird number (like 9). They're planning to keep Win 10 for a fair time and just keep updating it.

Just sounds better as Windows 10.

That is because Windows 7 ate nine.
All credit goes to the hilarious Jimmy Fallon.

Yeah but so far in my opinion windows 10 has been a disappointment. It seems like they rushed it because it's many bugs and chunky not very nice looking theme.

I heard they stayed away from the number 9 to avoid confusion with things like Windows 95.

I heard is was a massive fail so they didn't release it and started from scratch* moving straight to 10

That is the answer or something like that is why they skipped 9.

I always thought they where working on 9 and it just sucked so much they scrapped the idea and went on to windows 10 lol. I suppose not releasing it so as to not confuse the consumer with windows 95, 98, etc. is a more believable answer and makes more sense lol.

Well obviously because 7, 8(ate) 9 so they couldent possibly make a windows 9 so they made windows 10.
