Your best bet is to contact Microsoft customer chat and have then instruct you how to fix this issue.

I would recommend trying to recover your account. Just delete it and restart fresh.

That's only happened to me on my RGH, all I have to do it Reboot and they pop back up. Maybe Microsoft actually deleted them all

Edit: Try re-downloading your profile!

Re-download your profile and see if that does anything.

That happened to me once it was because i cleared my System Cache and it wiped all of my friends and messages like it was a new account, I just waited and went online in the next couple of days and it was all fine again.

Nothing has been deleted or removed its just hidden so you cant see them.

Check on xbox.com to see if you have any friends or messages. Check if there is a service alert. If it still says you have no friends and there is no service alert call microsoft. Either there is something wrong with your accounts or someone deleted your friends and messages.

This exact thing happened to me yesterday.

Within a few hours everything was back to normal, it has to do with XBL itself.
