I am downloading Minecraft to my PC, and the AntiVirus software (Avast) is saying it is a threat...

I am downloading Minecraft on the official Minecraft website. Shall I get a new AntiVirus?

I was getting that with AVG, I just added Minecraft to the exceptions list and it worked fine

It's probably outdated. On my old laptop it would show so many things as a virus when it clearly wasn't. Just update it or something you'll probably be good.

Avast hasn't really been good to me anyway.. recommend any other ones?

Avast is the worst possible anti virus software out right now. Sometimes I think it is a malware itself. If your looking for another free antivirus, AVG is good.

just disable avast for 10 minutes and you will be able to download it

And it depends on how good your PC specs are, however Panda is light and is looking pretty good.
