So I have a GTX 970, but it's running games like H1Z1 pretty poorly for my high-end computer and I was thinking about getting the R9 390. Now I also want to know if they R9 390 will fit in to my rig and on to my mobo.

H1Z1 is a very CPU demanding game, also unoptimized so performance will vary across the board.

The 390 and 970 don't differ that much performance-wise, but the 390 is slightly better. Definitely not worth it for you to sell your 970 for one though. Your 970 is fine, it's the optimisation which is the issue. You will just have to wait until they fix it or not buy un-finished games in the future. *ahem*
