I live about one hour away from where this happened and in Louisiana the law is the same. Anybody 21+ can open-carry a firearm with no permit. However I think that if someone had a firearm on them this mass shooting would have been prevented. I think more [sane/right-minded] people need to open carry or conceal there weapons in public places.

While I can see that working in some cases, I don't see it working that great in a dark room. You are watching a movie, you see a flash go off in the corner of your eye and then another. You open fire where your eyes took you to only shoot the guy that shot at the original shooter. Or, maybe someone shoots you when you try to shoot the original shooter because they see you have a gun and assume it was you. It could work, or it could create a bigger mess. Not sure I would want to be in that theater if/when we find out.
