There is actually a part of me that is a little torn. Cheating on someone is inexcusable. I can't really say I have any sympathy for those that have done it and get caught. In saying that though, you can't go and hack sites like that without a warrant or whatever. Not only is it illegal, it is a violation of privacy. I dislike both sides of this. In the end though, you can't hack the site and release info.

I have to comment about that logic of theirs. I totally understand where you are coming from. I think they see it a little differently though. (I'm not defending them.) It could be, "I'm going to blackmail you to do what is 'right', or I am going to release this info that you should have never had in the first place." I think they think that if a leak does happen, the site itself is 100% responsible due to keeping that type of information that it shouldn't have kept. It is still a terrible argument though. Like those celebrity leaks. "The website wasn't safe, so you had it coming." No, the hackers did that and no one else. If I leave my front door open while I am out, while I may have a legitimate reason to be concerned, no one should rob me because the door is open. The person doing the action is at fault regardless.

Haha .. I bet there is a LOT of nervous people out there right now.

Question is.. If you were the hacker and you knew you were going to be caught and prosecuted for the crime ,Would you release the data before being arrested ?.

I'm more irritated that someone would create a site to invite people to cheat on their significant other. Let the cheaters be reviled.

All I have to say is, wars have never been won by being logical and calm.

Fight fire with fire is their logic, and it's probably going to work.

Either that or Ashley Madison is going to have a hefty amount of law suits.

I get what many of other users are saying about releasing the private information.
It's not that black and white though. many people that make threats like this are saying that companies that HOLD on to peoples information need to keep it more secure. That is why they threaten to release it. If the information gets release the company gets in trouble.

The other big part of releasing the information is that people have to pay to get their information removed. However, it turns out that they keep the information anyways. This is a big no no that they company will get in trouble from.

The main point of releasing the information of the users is not to look hypocritical, it is so that companies be more responsible with personal information. Especially if the company says that they are going to remove the info. Releasing the information will also allow those who were wronged to get back at the company.
