Hey. Mark here.
So over the past two years i have slowly progressed more onto the pc scene for personal preference.
I love Rust & CS:GO particularly, but i feel i am a very smart player but my aim is something shocking,

I have nearly 300 hours in rust and 20~ in CS.
So heres my question - Why is my aim so bad?

I've came up with a few answers here to give you a bit of guidance.
1) I'm simply bad at pc gaming so far? - however i.m.o. 300 hours and using a mouse all my life should have at least lot me progress a little.
2) Its my mouse's fault (partly) - yes a bad workman never blames his tools yada yada but i have had this Dell standard stock mouse (from my previous pc because i refuse to game with my apple magic mouse. It is 10 years old and has NO feet left to it and is sluggish as hell.
3) No mouse mat - i game just on my desk, smooth wooden finish and it feels smooth as hell but it is of my understanding that desks have frequently quality drops (as tested on logitech quality test) which would somewhat explain why i find it so hard to snap to objects, rather i pull roughly where i feel it should go.
4) i have a 0.5dl speed with a ping of ALWAYS over 100.
5) naturaly sweaty palms that i have had quite badly throughout my life, even if washed thoroughly, regularly.

Another bit of background info: i have played fps all my life on console and on ps3/ps4 i played for a semi pro team on CoD and was pretty darn good on bf3/4. So i mean my knowledge of how to play a fps is there.
I have a large knowledge base of what i SHOULD do in the likes of counterstrike but i feel my aim is so cluggy and inaccurate.

No mean comments pls, ANY help is useful. Thanks
- Mark

Honestly man it could just be because your setup itself isn't comfortable or smooth.
I can't play a game well if I'm not comfortable.
What kind of mouse do you have?
It could also simply be a problem of not having a good mouse.
Razer mouses are probably your best bet.
Hope I helped.

Firstly get a mouse mat, it will smooth out movements.

Take the time to find your perfect sensitivity, This will help greatly. [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

you say your pings always over 100. Well that is holding you back alot. especially in a game like cs go. Need to sort that out.

finally Practice, practice, practice.

Thanks man. Idk the mouse, but its a 10 year old DELL, crappy quality. I was thinking of getting a G400s. I also have Astro A40s so i take gaming pretty seriously.
also, i play on an L shaped desk setup, with the computer in the corner, and i use a GT-Omega Racing office chair, so I'm super comfortable, but i get where yours coming from. I mean when i'm away from the desk, and playing console if my hands are cold or I'm uncomfortable i do really badly to say the least.

If you're gaming on a low-end machine, that's obviously going to impact performance. Poor peripherals will also do this. New, good quality peripherals can help a shit ton. A nice mouse, good quality panel and mech keyboard can significantly improve your performance and experience.

Just to add on; I work on an Mid 2010 iMac (yes its bad for gaming) but it has some slightly low end specs, but this runs CS:GO smoothly between 60-100fps on mid range settings.
I have 4gb ram, 3.06GHz intel core i3 processor, which tbf runs most at a decent quality. I also have loads of free HD space, as ik it can drastically slow down performance. I use a ATI Radeon HD 4670 256 MB graphics card on an iMac 21 inch display.
I am considering upgrading to 16gb ram, which hopefully will see a gd jump in performance, but idk if my CPU and graphics card will do that justice.
On a side note; i live in the country, thus giving me the shit internet, but BT have promised us we'll get fibre optic in our area by December.... yep, and this is the 21st century!

Upgrading RAM would be pointless. CPU and GPU are old, and low-end(I'm assuming the CPU is fairly low-end). Honestly, even a cheap desktop will be much less hassle, and a decent monitor with some nice peripherals. You can get a nice monitor for £125, easily and decent keyboard and mouse for about the same, maybe a little more, maybe a little less. I know CS:GO is fairly easy to run but amen't too sure about Rust, I think that's one of the ones that favours CPU power, but a mid ranged i3 rig would be perfect and wouldn't be too costly. It depends entirely on your financial situation though.

16GB RAM won't be a huge benefit in gaming, an extra 4GB would though. Some games refuse to even launch without 8GB RAM so if you can't afford much, adding another 4GB RAM or upgrading to 8GB wouldn't be a bad idea, per se.

+1 for fibre optic, it's fab.

I wouldn't gauge hours playing rust as a counter for how good your aiming should be.

Rust aiming mechanics really aren't that good for proving how good you are.

I don't think there are any problems here. When I play CSGO, I'm a total noob and my aiming is bad due to the recoil on guns and me not used to using tactics, but when I play other FPS games like COD and BF, I am a total different animal. Don't judge your aiming on CSGO.

I'm not saying CSGO is good to judge your aiming. If anything it's one of the worst because of it's very specific aim style compared to every other FPS.

Rust is just a very buggy game at the moment and I often find shots don't land anywhere near where I aim at, or I'll try to melee someone and find that it hit a completely different body part than where the collision occurred.
In Rust, you just aim and have to hope it hit somewhere vital.
