So am kinda new to PC Gameing and stuff like that and never used steam..

so if i wanna play Day Z online do i need like steam online or how does that work

Yes, I believe you do. The game runs through steam, not sure if it has a standalone client or anything.
But you will need an online steam to play.

No, just the base game. However, it is in Early Access/alpha I believe so you can expect many bugs and errors.

GTA 5 is really good on PC. Has minimal problems, but I believe you always have to be online to play it, or connect to it. Going by the Steam store page at least.

Steam works like a console kinda. It's more of a way to keep your games organized and linked to one account for convenience than something you play through. Most games have servers that players connect to as opposed to client side connections on consoles.

You buy a game on steam which links to your steam account so if you get a new computer or log in somewhere else, you can bring them with you. Just buy DayZ on steam and you'll be good to go. Once you are in the game, just click "Play" or "Change Server"

I don't have GTA 5 yet but it's safe to assume it would work the same way. I don't think you need to be online to play singleplayer.
