Reuters wrote China has begun a new campaign against illegal prenatal gender tests and sex-selective abortions to help address the country's gender imbalance, state news agency Xinhua said on Wednesday.

Many families abort female foetuses and abandon baby girls to ensure their one child is a son, with about 116 boys born for every 100 girls last year, against a global average of 103 to 107.

The new campaign will run under November, and concentrate on health centres and family planning institutions, as well as illegal fertility agencies, clinics and itinerant doctors, the report said.

The government will also tighten controls on medical equipment and medicine used in both ultrasounds and abortions, and blacklist any organisation found to be complicit in either activity, Xinhua added.

In late 2013, China said it would ease family planning restrictions to allow millions of families to have two children in the most significant liberalisation of the one-child policy - originally introduced to slow population growth - in decades.

Critics say the relaxation of rules was too little and came too late to redress substantial negative effects on the economy and society. Analysts say China faces the prospect of becoming the first country in the world to get old before it gets rich.

I just don't get how people can kill their own child and be perfectly fine with it, abortion should just be banned and the world would be a better place.

Accelerated overpopulation, spike in babies born with deformities, and children being born into families that simply can't afford a child.

Though I don't actually have an opinion on abortion laws, I don't see how you could use "the world would be a better place" argument.

Something called adoption, people could actually learn how to use protected sex. How could a world without BABIES being murdered everyday not be a better place? Overpopulation really? We grow to much food right now, we would be fine.

Another thing, how would you feel if your parents tried to abort you and failed? See the babies don't get the choice, they don't get a opinion, no one thinks about them. People only think about themselves, it is murder nothing else.

No, I would go out, see a kid, and think of him never existing. With that thought, I would be ok with it. If my mom wanted to abort me, that would have been her choice. If I found out she wanted to, I would still be ok with it. Why would I have a problem with it? It isn't like I could take it personally since she didn't know me before I was born. I also couldn't take it personally because I wasn't even a person anyway.

Really? Adoption is just, not good. Many kids there don't even get adopted, would you really want kinds with no parents? Protected sex, I don't care if you use every single know prevention method, there's NO 100% chance that you won't get pregnent, it's just impossible. And how are you denying overpopulation? You can't be, nobody's that dumb, I hope.

And, guess what? Most people, when they have an abortion, ITS NOT EVEN A FETUS YET. It's just a bunch of cells. Not ALIVE. Nit BABIES. Hell, it's not even a baby yet, it's still in the womb.

How about we leave women alone with their bodies, eh?

There is currently more than 400,000 kids in orphanages in the US alone and less than a third of them are even eligible for adoption.

They wouldn't get treated any better by being put in the system.

I agree.

Murder would be abortion at month 9, not week 20.

xMercii wrote Overpopulation really? We grow to much food right now, we would be fine.

Lack of food isn't the problem. Lack of fossil fuels is.

The fetus really doesn't have any knowledge of whats going on. Saying abortion is murder is quite over the top. The world suffers from overpopulation. Not only that but food is becoming more scarce every year. We are not growing enough food to keep everyone fed - [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

But everyone has their own opinion, you just have to respect the fact that some people can't have a child as the child will live in poverty.
