If somebody rings Microsoft and reports you for something you haven't done can they ban you?

They wouldn't 'ban' you immediately, instead they will further investigate the users report and possibly pass it on to the Xbox Live Enforcement Team.

If you have not done anything wrong, you will be fine.

Well
All you can do is wait
They can not remove bans once they have gave it to you

I have been on the Xbox enforcement team
And all I do is ban people because they have inappropriate gamertags

I really doubt they would do anything.
If alot of people were calling in saying it they might look into you
But if its just one kid saying he's gonna call MS and get you banned
Don't worry, you're fine, you're not gonna get banned

when you get reported they usually run an investigation on your account.

Just make sure you haven't done ANYTHING that could result in a suspension after you gotten unban the first time.

Because what happens is that once they start the "Investigation" on your account, they look
for the littlest things, even if you accidentally entered a modded lobby by accident.

There's always a chance of a ban, with or without knowing.

If you're good, then there's nothing to worry about! (:
