I was looking to upgrade my GPU to a R9 280 [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

I was wondering if my 450w PSU could handle it.

The VP-450 has one 6-pin PCI power connector and the card has one 6-pin and one 8-pin. You'll need to use the molex to PCI and the 6 to 8-pin adapters that come with the card.

Do you understand what he even asked? No, that PSU is not good for that build. I would recommend at least 600W.

Anything lower would probably mess with your system.

^That even suggests higher than 600W.

lol, cute. Did you even read the thread that you linked? Doubt it since it says nothing about requiring more than 600W. Manufacturers always recommend a much larger PSU than is actually required. A decent 450W unit, such as the one OP has will be fine for an R9 280, which isn't going to be using any more than 300W itself. In fact, 280's in crossfire won't need anything more than 450W, not including the rest of the rig. OP's rig with an R9 280 will be pulling about 400W, so yes, his decent quality 450W unit is perfectly fine.
