I'm new to building pc's and I was wondering if a msi gtx 970 is a good card to run games like battlefield, dcs, farcry, and any arma game. I would also like to know if there are any better cards that I should be on the look out for.

The 970 is a good card and you shouldn't have any problems while playing those games.

Great card will run games fine, Arma and DayZ seem to depend on your CPU also so that could effect framerate.
Farcry 4 is a ubisoft game and so performance on that is meh expect stuttering and random framerate drops all over the place for no reason.

GTX 970 is the best card on the market for price:performance. It will handle 4k at playable frames for mid tier cost.

The game has had a patch since I last played it, on release and first patch there was nothing but complains from people saying the performance sucked, not as bad as Unity tho.

GTX 970 is great and it probably has the best price:performance ratio as stated by someone earlier, but if you want that bit of extra graphical performance, which will make games like FC4 and BF4 to run even better, you could get a GTX 980. Obviously it is a bit more expensive.

I would get the 970 FTW edition. It's faster than the reference 980 for a much cheaper price.

You could just manually overclock the 980 and it'll kick the 970s ass.
