I want to know if for example, players playing games such as Animal Crossing on the 2DS can play with 3DS users?

Both devices are exactly the same minus the 3D mode and you will be able to play with 3DS users.

Yep, the 3ds and 2ds are the same except the 2DS doesn't shut and have 3d capabilities other then that you are able to play with your friends as you normally would.
