BSM wrote terrorists are good guys in their countries, but bad here. Marines are heros in the US but are terrorists in other countries.

That is complete BS.

The president of Afghanistan just gave us the go-ahead on night raids in his country.
ISIS is terrorizing Syria, kidnapping children and women everywhere.

PJDUNN wrote Blind Americans perceive theyre protecting our freedoms.

TIL I'm blind because I disagree with "PJDUNN".
Its okay to have a different opinion but don't act like the US military is innocent.

Further research, or even watching the video on NBC News would tell you that they saw the men as a threat. They had what appeared to be AK-47s on there shoulders. Also, keep in mind that this was in a hot zone. Meaning it is an area known for having armed men and RPGS shooting down helicopters.

You are trying to make it seem like soldiers just raid homes and kill people to kill people. That is not the case at all.

If I was trying to make it seem like that I would have said that.

It was down to the soldier in that situation to think 'Could I be wrong here?'
and it turns out he was wrong. More information is needed before they decide to end people's lives. The soldier should have realized that, instead of 'Just following orders.'
Just like the soldiers who have their fingers on the buttons which send air strikes into civilian populated areas.

This is off topic though, I'm not even sure why I brought it up in the first place.

You seem to be misunderstanding the rules of engagement and war. You either take a calculated risk or die for it.

Ruvik wrote I see the military as a necessary evil. I don't think that they should be venerated as heroes because they killed someone who might have been a threat to me and my family somewhere in the Middle East.
I'd rather reserve the title of 'Hero' for doctors, fire fighters, and the police [in some cases.]

Just because someone joined the military doesn't automatically make them a hero, that's what annoys me about American patriotism, and even British patriotism.

It is also down to the soldier to decide what is right, and what is wrong.
We don't accept the 'I was just following orders' excuse from German soldiers who guarded Auschwitz, so why should we accept it from our own soldiers when they blow up a house full of civilians to get one possible terrorist?

I actually take great offense to that, your reply sickens me if im honest, these people go to war and lay down their life to protect their country, they don't have to, yet they do it anyway, at least have the decency to show some respect, instead take their 'hero' title away from them.

If you supported the troops you wouldnt support their blind obedience to war-profiteers whose policies ultimately put the troops in harms way. Soldiers dont fight for the average American, they fight for their employer, the same employer that enslaves the average American.

Yeah those people walking around on the ground, obviously oblivious to my presence, pose a great threat to me, up here in this high-tech Apache helicopter with missiles and machine guns ready to fire at the click of a button. There was no threat to the soldiers.

No, they go to war and most of them come home.
The ones who die should be remembered as heroes, not every 18 year old who signs up to the army because they have no other options in life, or because they think it's going to be like Call of Duty.

Calling something offensive does nothing to discredit it by the way.

This response shows you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. They go to war because they want to, not because they have no other options. That is a very ignorant way of looking at it. None of them think it will be like a video game. You seem to just think that the military is here to be oppressive and that the government is out to get people. You just regurgitate whatever media puts on a plate for you. If you knew anything about news/media then you'd know that it is all opinions. NBC and the other new post that you posted are all from Democratic sides of the spectrum. SO of course they would be anti war and use this, but what you are missing about the whole thing is that no innocent people are just killed. The soldier that pulled the trigger had enough reason and cause to do so. They are trained to make that decision. You saying what they did was wrong is like saying that Einstein's wrong about physics. They have consequences to pay if they make the wrong decision. They get discharged. Never once have I said or anyone said that all Military personal are heros. I said the one in the original post was, because he is.
