Throughout my time on this site there are some users that have badges ranging from MVC, Game Reviewer, Tutorial King, etc you name it.
Now, most users on here are as nice as can be and will actually help you in achieving what you are going for badge wise and with this I have made quite a few friends.
BUT, there are more than quite a few users that are so elitist and sit way up there on their high horse and feel that they are the best thing to this site since Sean and Telli.
There are so many of my friends going for different badges whether it be Game Reviewer, Tutorial King, etc and they have LITERALLY quit going for the badge because of these users down voting, PM'ing them advice that they didn't ask for, and being all around elitists.
Has anyone else experienced this when going for badges and what not?

I have also seen this in the Game Review Forum with some of your friends.
I also have a problem with this.
I see that SpeedForce and some others have been posting some reviews but seem that they have been getting certain amount of down votes but the work was really well written.
I can see why a game reviewer might down vote because they dont think the work the other user has put would be something they would have done so they down vote it. Thats my thought.
Look at this: Brigand Down voted :stern:

Alright, not to go against what you said, but hear me out. You shouldn't have to give people tutorials how to achieve badges just because you may have achieved said badge. There's an obvious sticky.
Now, everyone on here is equal. Although most people won't act like that. I don't care if you're a senior admin, you don't deserve my respect unless you are respectful to me. That's just how you should treat people. A little image next to your name means absolutely nothing.
My advice for people who want to act like an elitist, take a step back, its a tech forum.

Uh. What? Im thinking of going for Game Reviewer but I wanna go for it because of Brigand and Thespian can tell me if I need more information on something. Now for users that go for MVC and other certain badges, some people might be harsh because the post either spam or not useful at all. For game reviewer, people will post reviews but not have a lot of information on the reviews so people dont like it, so since they want more info they dislike it thinking they will add more information. Tutorial King, I dont see people going to people and not making them go for the badge, unless they keep on adding rule breaking tuts then maybe people will be rude to them to go for it but besides that I dont see anyone being rude to users going for that badge.

it also doesnt really matter about the information on the review.
It also matters if you are friends with the user down voting stuff. Because if Ago and Brigand are great friends I think they would up vote each others stuff since they are friends.
But if I went to post a review and that Review had great information but Brigand didnt really like me, usually he would down vote.
EDIT: Brigand maybe say something besides down voting my stuff.

Talking specifically about the Game Reviewer badge at this point in what you were saying just F.Y.I.
Anyways, that being said about there "not being enough information" in the reviews is completely irrelevant to other users. Halo4 is the moderator of that section and his word is law. It doesn't matter how much information you have in a review. It is all about you writing your own reviews. So, other users down voting, quoting, and PM'ing unneeded advice is a complete waste of time as the reviews that they down vote for basically no reason generally still get accepted and just cause a lot of hassle and upset people for LITERALLY no reason at all.
Example:
According to Halo4's words, (the boss of that section) it doesn't matter about size and quality and therefore the users that down vote for lack of information should just up and stop as if Halo4 doesn't feel there is enough information, he won't accept it. Case closed.
EDIT: Might I ask the three users that down voted me what their reason behind it was? All that I stated in my post was fact. I am by no means sending hate on any user and don't want to do so. I am just tired of users pushing each other around over something so little and petty as a review on a website or a dumb colored badge that sits beside of a user's name on here.

Halo4 in HIS sticky wrote We are looking to create a wide selection of game reviews - but we want our own, not the reviews of other sites. We would far prefer your own reviews (regardless of size/quality) over that of one which has been copied from another site.

Making fallacies about me won't get you nowhere. Expect another downvote for it as well. As for that first post of yours, surely you would've been wiser when posting something like that in public. I'll let staff handle this one. I don't know what I exactly did to aggravate you so badly.
Was told you were asking for me to reply instead of downvoting so here it is.
In regards to this topic, we all have different opinions, and yes friendships do alter the way we like/dislike one's posts. If were close friends, and whatnot, most definitely gonna upvote friends post. Of course if you got strong hatred towards a user as you can see in the above posts, you can see what would happen. Surely not one of us that dislikes one's post is doing it to just upset that user, but merely for disagreeing with what they posted.

So why keep using the 2 buttons and use them for a good purpose like the information on the topic. Not just if you're friends or not.

I haven't really seen anything like this, either because I haven't gone for the Game Reviewer, Download King or anything like that or I just haven't seen it said to others. I try to help people with badges to my best ability, like if someone makes a topic on how to get a certain badge(s), I try to explain it as best as I can (as do other users as well.) For instance, if someone were to ask about MVC/MVC+ I would show them where to post at and inform them to try to not type things like "this is cool!" or anything like that on multiple articles as that could get their news posts reset or even have their badge taken away. With that being said, if someone is trying to put you down when going for a badge, I don't think you should let it bother you, they already got it, you're going for it now, you should stick with it regardless of what they say. Now if you have a change in heart because you simply don't want to go for it anymore, that's fine, but I don't think you should just up and quit because someone is trying put you down regarding a badge.
