He has 400 to spend on a gaming pc.

He would like to play dayz, spin tires and battlefield 4.

$400 isn't going to get you very far for a gaming PC. I would say up your budget a little bit.

This could be a good start for around 400GBP;

Future upgrades could include an SSD, i5 or i7 CPU(4th or 5th gen Intel) or a better GPU.

Good build dude, apart from the PSU. CiT's case quality is shockingly bad, so I imagine their PSU's aren't any better.

I thought that may be the case but I hadn't actually heard much about CiT PSU's. I can guarantee that the majority of CiT cases suck though as I've owned 4.

OP; This PSU would probably be a better choice;

I have that in my current build and have been using it for 2, almost 3 years now and had absolutely no issues.

You could also go down the EVGA route for a PSU if you wish for around the same price as the Cooler Master PSU that I suggested;
