Before I post anything I want to say first I am not bashing on consoles, people have their own preferences and opinions. I just wanted to share these reasons with people wondering what the difference is between PC and console gaming and if anyone was looking into switching to PC gaming.

Note: Since I probably couldn't put these reasons in a proper well written way I found someone who did so I could share them with you guys: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

1. Better Hardware, Better Visuals and Faster Frame Rate

Many console gamers argue that the substance of the game trumps how it looks; that is, the story is more worthwhile than the graphics. There's a reason that you choose a Ferrari over a Ford Focus, though, and that's because looks and performance both matter. Having a better "motor" means your trip is going to be much more enjoyable. In a lot of ways, comparing a PC to a console is like comparing a Ferrari to a Ford Focus.

2. Game Mods

When a game releases on a console, you get the content that comes with that particular game, and that's it. When that same game is on the PC, however, the community playing it continuously creates new and interesting content for others to enjoy. Even old, outdated games can be injected with new life through the installation of a new texture mod.

3. Universal Backward Compatibility

Upset that you can't play your favorite Xbox 360 game on your Xbox One? With a PC, you need not fret. While hardware is constantly getting better, PCs never make it impossible to play your favorite game again. Even outdated DOS titles can be manipulated and experienced on new machines through emulators.

4. Unlimited Controller Options

Are you a mouse-and-keyboard person, or do you prefer a gamepad? Even those wonderful controllers that come with consoles can be connected to a PC, ensuring that whatever you prefer, it's available.

5. Upgradeable Hardware

When a new console is announced, there are dozens of articles and discussions about how powerful the new hardware is. You know who never gets involved in that conversation? PC gamers. Because PC gamers know that if a part of their hardware isn't performing up to snuff, they can simply invest some money into making it better, with no new machines to buy.

What are your opinions? Do you prefer console or PC gaming?

To be honest, this is a fact, not your opinion.

Don't get me wrong, I played consoles for years before PC, and they're great, especially for Families & casual gamers, who don't have the money, or don't want to spend it on a PC that can cost anything from 500 up to 2000.

Agreed, I just didn't want to start a flame war stating it was a fact

It's obvious console with never compare with PC's. Consoles are too cheap and they can't be upgraded.

I do agree with that part "they can't be upgraded" but cheap? I really don't think so, I mean if you were to buy an Xbox One with Kinect that would run you over $500 and for a little extra you could build a PC that out performs it in every way.

I used to always be the guy who defended consoles when people said that PC gaming was better, lord were they right. Either way though now I still do a lot of my gaming on my Xbox, but I have branched out to the PC.

The reason why I own a console is because I believe for most games, the community is just a lot better.

Everything on your list, I agree with though. PC is a lot better and upgradable.

It really depends on the community. The PC minecraft community is best community for minecraft. Really the only game I can think of that the community is "better" on console is Call of Duty which I never have liked that community at all. Other than that I cannot think of any games with better console communities unless you start getting into exclusives.

But there's one factor that you fail to miss; price.

Show me a PC that you can build for $400 that has a legit copy of Windows + peripherals + shipping costs included in the price, and has better graphics than consoles, and I'll buy it in a heartbeat.

Most of the price claims mentioned by PC gamers are false, consoles offer better graphics for the price.

Why peripherals and shipping cost? You don't buy a TV and plan it to be on your Xbox budget. A computer that is $400 custom built will probably be better than all of those consoles.
