Bowe Bergdahl was captured in 2009. Held captive for almost 5 years he was released after we came to terms with Taliban leaders

I'm glad this man is back home with his family.

I just wish Fox News didn't drag his reputation through the mud back in late 2010.

Bad move. They should have just left him there. He doesn't deserve to come back to the US. I wouldn't use the term Traitor, but he is a deserter. His actions caused some very good men to loose their lives. I hope the only reason we agreed to this is to bring him back to prosecute him. Mark my words one if not more of those detainees will be involved in the killing of US troops by the end of the year.

He is a POS and should not be treated as a hero.

Before you ask, yeah, I'm bitter about this.

1. He never fit in with his unit and made several bizarre statements about the US and their involvement in the GWOT.
2. He usually was in the company of the local Afghan guards.
3. He screwed up and got in trouble with his command and decided he didn't want to be there anymore. He mailed home most of his possessions and emailed his family saying that he was ashamed to be an American. Some members of his unit have made it known that he made comments about wanting to join the TB or just "Leave".
4. He left the base on his own accord with some Afghan "friends". They went out to smoke some Hash, basically going AWOL. What is not known for sure is that either his "friends" turned him over to the Taliban or if he went on his own.
5. He lied about what happened.
6. The entire ISAF was put on notice to do everything in its power to try and find this guy. Several operations took a back seat because of this which affected the environment.
7. The amount of man-hours that were spent by units trying to find this POS Deserter is staggering......all based on a lie.

I wasn't there, but it was related to my by a friend who was there and was involved in the investigation. I trust him and have trusted him with my life in the past.

There are thousands of people that deserve better treatment than this piece of human filth. The current administration is doing this because they need a "Win" right now. I sincerely hope that the truth comes out and this poor excuse for a soldier is punished under the UCMJ.

Groovy

I couldn't agree with a more right statement. The US has now put a label on itself that is irreplaceable. They negotiate with Terrorist. I believe that this will spark an uprising of terror activity because they believe that the US now negotiates with them. I also believe that they should have put all this effort and work into another mission like getting the marine that took a wrong turn and is now in a Mexican prison. That Marine is a hero not the guy that said he is ashamed to be an American.
