I see where you're coming from, but why would they use a train to do that? Last country that tried that was in WWII and clearly they lost.
Are you talking about the Soviet Union? Because they used trains to move their troops. In 1944 it didn't seem like they lost to me.

No one really won WW2. The SU lost so many lives you can barely call it a victory.

Anyway, China and the US won't have a war, all you have to do is blow the track up.
You gotta be kidding me right? The Nazi regime collapsed in May 1945, squeezed ever more tightly between two fronts - the Soviet Union on one side and the Western Allies on the other. After that, we dropped the 2 atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki on August 6 and 9, 1945. On August 15, 1945 the Japanese surrendered to the Allies.

I read about this before, got all excited, then forgot about it. Thanks for reminding me!

It would be cool to see. I'm from the UK and want to travel to America more often. If China had a railway to London and also a railway to the US, that would mean I could travel to the US by train - exciting!

I'd like to think this would be a fraction of the price of an air fare, although with all the money that will be spent on building the railway and maintenance costs, along with high demand, i'd imagine it will cost the same/higher amount than a plane ticket. It would also be a much longer duration journey.

I would still like to see this happen in my lifetime though. Who knows, maybe eventually it'll be cost effective and the trains will be extremely fast (much faster than plane), thanks to advancing technology?

Thats what I was thinking.

What other purpose would it serve?

First, unless that train can travel faster that 550 mph, it's not going to get people here nor there any faster. Second, underwater trains won't be able to carry cargo or goods as efficiently as the massive ships in use now. I just don't see what purpose it could serve that there aren't already better options for.

If they do that, they need to have security so terrorists can't just come in to the U.S
