Pizza Express reveal ALL the chicken they use is halal - but they don't tell customers unless they ask staff

Pizza Express is serving halal chicken to its unwitting customers on the quiet, with staff only telling customers about the meat if asked.

Only meat from birds that have had their throats slit while still alive, in accordance with Islamic traditions, is used in dishes.

The menu makes no mention of the issue and customers can find out only by checking the small print on the Pizza Express website or by asking staff explicitly.

If you're religious (Non Muslim) then it is wrong. This is what Halal meat basically is...

"The food must come from a supplier that uses halal practices. Specifically, the slaughter must be performed by a Muslim, who must precede the slaughter by invoking the name of Allah, most commonly by saying "Bismillah" ("In the name of God") and then three times "Allahu akbar" (God is the greatest). Then, the animal must be slaughtered with a sharp knife by cutting the throat, windpipe and the blood vessels in the neck (while the animal is conscious), causing the animals death without cutting the spinal cord. Lastly, the blood from the veins must be drained."

I'm not exactly religious myself but i have a christian background and eating meat from an animal which was slaughtered in the name of Allah is wrong.

*Note.. I have nothing against anyone from any religious background.

I'm afraid for me... Everything is wrong with it. I wouldn't say I'm an animal lover but I certainly do not agree with the way that the animal's are slaughtered.

What I don't understand is. Why is it that for a huge number of people (including myself).. It's so easy for us to choose not to eat the Halal meat - But for Muslims they have to make a huge fuss and insist that our culture has to change for them. Utter joke.

Fair point but i thought the animals were slaughtered in a way to minimize the amount of suffering possible?

By killing them the Halal way they have their throat slit while still alive, then they drain the blood from its veins... pretty sick imo

I watched Kill It Cook It Eat It at one point and the deaths of the animals were quick and painless. This "halal" way is very sickening. I Like Muslims, I dont have a problem with any religious people (unless they are rude). This is Britain, all of this "halal" meat talk is annoying me and from now on some food chains will only do halal meat, why? because of Muslim complaints. Now im not bothered if the keep halal meat but i want the "normal" meat to stay as well. If chicken is chicken then how do muslims know if its halal or not?
